A/N: Okay. So Sorry if that was lame. I haven't written in a while but I felt the need to get this up. And thank you all for reading all the chapters to find out what the mistake was. I don't know if it's just me, but if I walked in on the love of my life about to do it with another chick, I'd be pretty shattered, but sorry if you guys thought that mistake was lame. But this is the last chapter, and the sequel is up now too. So go read that if you want.
After crying for to whole plane rides, her head hurt and her eyes were pretty much dry. Brandon was waiting to pick her up at the airport. He was honestly the best friend she could ask for; he; Angel and Alex were the most amazing people in her life.
When she got to Texas she called Kevin. He wasn't home but his girlfriend Mandy was. She answered and Lindsey poured out her story to her, and the tears flowed again. Mandy cried with her. It was sad. It was a terrible what had just happened to Lindsey. What Jack had just done was so bad. From the moment Mandy met Kevin's sister she always glowed with life and she was always so happy and in love. She was always on the phone with her boyfriend. Lindsey always smiled after she got off the phone with him. She would twirl on her toes and dance around and sing their song. And now, for Mandy to hear that the same boy who helped heal her life was now the one tearing it down and making it all fall apart was the saddest news.
It was arranged that Brandon was picking up Lindsey and taking her to Kevin's house and that she would stay there for a few days, her parents didn't know about the whole thing yet. She didn't want them to get angry or try to do something about it, because their relationship wasn't exactly legal anyways. Even though she wasn't exactly sure they could do anything, she didn't want the risk of Jack going to jail.
She slept through her plane ride from Texas to California and the flight attendant woke her up a few minutes before landing.
Brandon was waiting by the baggage claim. She ran to him, just as she had the last time he picked her up from the airport, but this time she was crying for an entirely different reason. He hugged her softly and stoked her hair. "I'm sorry Lindsey." He said. "I really am. I never expected Jack to hurt you like that."
She nodded, " I know." She said, " I know…"
Brandon got her bags and carried them to his car. He drove slowly and he didn't say much. He just let her sit and stare out the window. She was home again but she was hurt worse than she'd ever been and Brandon had no experience comforting her in a situation like this. Jack had been her first real boyfriend. And so Brandon didn't know how to help her. Parental complications? Bring it on. Boyfriend troubles? Back up a little bit.
He wanted to help her, he wanted to say something, he wanted to at least try, but he didn't know how or what to say. Lindsey was the only friend that he really had to consol. But he never minded it, because she was like his little sister, but a long lost twin at the same time. He hated to see her sad, but more; he hated not knowing how to help her.
"Thank you." She said halfway through the drive. "I really appreciate this Brandon, you don't know how much I really love having you here to help me."
"I just wish I knew how to help more." He said as he pulled up and into Kevin's driveway.
Lindsey leaned over and kissed Brandon's cheek. "Thank you." She said again and then got her bags from the backseat and without another word she walked away from his car and up to her brother's door.
Mandy answered it, and she Lindsey went back to the room which she had stayed in for so long, a lot of her stuff was still in it. Mandy tried to talk with her but it didn't help much. So she just left her alone. And all Lindsey did was sit and stare at the wall. There were pictures of her and jack everywhere. So she asked Mandy for a good-sized box and when she got in, she began to take down the pictures from the walls. The tacks were put on a shelf in a cup, and all the pictures in frames were taken out and the frames left alone on the dresser. All the pictures were put in the box. The walls looked pretty empty with her hundreds of pictures of them together. There really were over a hundred pictures. Whenever they were together, it was picture time if that had nothing else to do. Most of the pictures were silly, but they were all pictures she loved, and she had a hard time believing she would ever stop loving them. She took, his letters down as well, and they were put with the box. All the gifts he'd given her, a teddy bear for Valentines Day, a random frog doll beanie baby she had received in the mail from him. Everything. The box she'd been given was filled with pictures and letters, so everything else would have to wait until she got home to be put away into a bigger box.
When she finished she sat on the bed. She didn't know how long but it felt like a while. And then the door opened. Her room was dark and the only light that came in was coming through the closed blinds.
"Hey." The voice said. Kevin.
"Hi." She said with tears already flowing.
He sat on the bed next to her and put his arm around shoulder and pulled her into his arms. She cried on him for a long time and he did his job as an older brother. He sat and held her; he stoked her hair and said, "Shhh…. Shhh… It's okay Lindsey, it's okay…"
When she stopped crying he took his arms from around her and just held one of her hands with her head on his shoulder. He felt so bad, as if maybe somehow a long time ago when this first started he could have prevented her from getting hurt, but he couldn't think of anyway. If he did anything in the past that kept them from each other it would hurt her, and now her pain was just intensified.
His little sister who had always been so mature for her age, always the leader as shy as she was. She always took control and took care of things if she needed too, and for most of Andy's life she been more of his mom than his older sister. And she shouldn't have had to deal with that responsibility. And now she felt so small, so scared, so childlike crying in his arms. He remembered one day when they were at the park. They'd gotten lost from their parents, and she was so scared, so they sat together on a bench, and he put his arms around her and said, "It's okay Lindsey. Mommy and Daddy will find us soon." And like he'd said, they did.

Alex sat in his kitchen rubbing his head. How could Jack have been so dumb? Angel was crying for her and Alex was so ready to kill him. How could he have hurt Lindsey like that? Sure, he hadn't known she would be there, but still, Jack knew better than to do something like that, so how could he have done it….?
The doorbell rang. Alex stood up to answer it. He didn't bother checking to see whom it was, he figured it was the mailman. But when he opened it. He came face to face with Jack. Alex was about to scream at him until he saw the look on his face. He'd never seen it before.
Jack was breathing hard; Angel had taken his car to look for Lindsey so he had run to Alex's house. The look on his face was hard to describe but it matched Lindsey's when she saw him yesterday. If not more intense.
"Alex." Jack said. And he looked at his best friend for a long time, and tears actually began to fall. Friends and band mates since freshman year, Alex had never seen Jack cry. Jack fell to his knees on the ground and looked down for a long time. Alex just stood there. Too mad at him to try and help, but also frozen with worry.
Then Jack looked up. His face wet with tears.
"Alex…" he said. "I lost her… didn't I?"
--
Kevin continued to play with Lindsey's hair. Neither of them really knowing what to say or really wanting to say anything.
"Kev?" Lindsey said.
"Hmm?"
"What do you do?" she said.
"What do you mean?" he asked and twirled a piece of his sister's hair around his finger.
"What do you do…" she said, "What do you do when it all falls apart?"
"Well…" he said.
End Book One.
