Chapter 5

The floor was tiled and cold on my bare feet. The fucking people didn't give me any socks or shoes so I had to walk around in my bare feet. It just goes to show that they really didn't care about anyone but themselves.

I followed Nox through the hallways, she said nothing to me as we walked. The other people walking through the hallways walked out of our way, me in particular. They tried to stay as far way from me as the hall would allow. One bewildered scientist came to close and eyed me with disgust; I bared my teeth at him and he screamed and dropped everyone of the papers he was carrying. He turned and ran the other way. The other random passers-by walked past as if nothing had happened.

Nox turned left into a dark room and pulled me in after her. She turned the light on and pushed me into one of the cold, metal chairs. I was confused and my head and heart were wanting two completely different things. A part of me wanted to pull her onto my lap and make-out with her, another part of me wanted to get some answer out of her.

She walked around me and to the head of the table where a laptop sat and slid herself gracefully into the chair. She propped her feet onto the the table and focused her blue eyes on me. Her pale face seemed distant. I looked at her and tried to figure out what was wrong. The bubbly, talkative girl wasn't in this room with him. She was something completely different.

The door behind me opened suddenly, I could feel my heart beat faster out of shock and my the way Nox's eyes moved toward me I knew she heard it too. I expected the man in the gray suit but it wasn't him. It was a different person this time, a woman. She looked me over and her nose wrinkled. Her blond hair and scarlet eyes looked alien on her. I swallowed to wet my throat before i said anything, but she spoke first.

"Mister Braddox," she said at me. I crossed my arms and gave her the idea that I didn't want to be feed any shit story about what was happening but her gaze didn't waver. "You are being confined her until our testing is complete." She stood next to Nox as she said this. Nox Jumped out of her chair as the woman's hand smacked into the back of her head. I wanted to get of and hit her for that but images from my last raging attack filled my head.

"What the fuck." I hissed through my teeth. "Who do you think you are? You can't just hold me without reason."

"First off, My name is Catherine Alister and Second, Why do I need a reason. It's not like you have anywhere to go. Everyone thinks your dead." She smiled and rows of pointed teeth protruded from her mouth. She is not human. I looked over at Nox and she winked at me. I gave her a confused look but Catherine Alister looked back at her and her face hardened up again.

"You are not human are you Catherina Alister. What type of creature are you that gives you the ability to hold me here." I sat back down in my chair and winked at Nox. She frowned at me but walked over and stood behind me. To Catherine Alister it would have looked as if she kissed my neck but she really whispered in my ear. "Don't do anything stupid, Help will be here soon." I could smell her, the floral aroma that followed her everywhere. Her old lips brushed my neck as she stood back up.

"You Nyan Braddox are one smart Half-Breed. I am not human, but then again who is; what is human these days." She smiled again as she stood up. "For you, I will show my true form and maybe that will get to see why I am in authority to keep you here."

Her body began to spasm as she laughed. Her blond hair fell out strand by strand and her skin began to peel away. Her clothes fell to shreds as her body began to grow. Scales erupted from her torso, covering her to her waist which was growing tufts of fur. A tail sprouted from her and was whipping around manically behind her. Her feet where hoofed and her face elongated. Her hands grew sharp razor blade claws. Her red eyes meet mine and he smiled. Her bony shook violently sending a ripple down her spine and then her change was done. The sight made me vomit and Nox stood where she did her face pale.

The daemon, formally known as Catherine Alister jumped onto the table, her head reaching the table. "This is my true form half-breed, Isn't it beautiful." Her hoofed feet click-clacked across the gray metal table as she crossed it over to me. I swallowed again, to wet my mouth. "I don't want to hurt you Half-breed but if you won't give us what we need I might just have to cut you open my self." She sat down on the table in front of me a traced one of her claws down the middle of my chest ripping the front of my shirt. It stung and blood began to soak the soft cotton.

Suddenly the door flew open. A man in a long white trench coat, which was dirt covered, came through and I recognized he held up a silver gun and pulled the trigger. A loud bang and the creature formerly known as Catherine Alister feel to the floor twitching. black blood oozing from the wound. The man waved me and Nox through the door and down the hall which now was empty.

"We better hurry," he said in a husky tone. "She'll heal quick enough." Nox laugh in relief as the man in the trench coat herded us into an abandoned room and out on of the broken windows. My cotton pants snagged a jagged glass piece and ripped. I could feel blood running down my calf and before I knew it I could feel the warm tingling of my skin knitting back together. That will come in handy.

The moon was out and outside was still hot, It was barren and HOT. There where no trees around for miles and the ground was rocky there was no grass. The stars where distant and dim. The man in the white trench coat lead Nox and me to a gray truck.

"You two get in the back and cover up, use the heavy blanket. I don't know what it is made out of but the x-rays can't see through it." He looked at me and his eyes narrowed. "Don't argue, I know it is hot out here but it is for your own good." He opened the drivers seat and pulled out a black bag and tossed it to me. "Here's the stuff that was on you got here."

I tossed in in the back and layed next to Nox under the very heavy blanket. I was sweating so much and not just from the heat. Nox layed stiff under the blanket and the only comfortable position was to lay on our sides. Her, now short and blonde, hair smelled like lavender and it was up my nose. I had to resist the urge to put my arm over her side and hold her close to me. It is so hard to fight that urge. Why did she have to smell so appetizing? I heard her giggle, it was if she could hear my thoughts.

The car started up and jerked forward, ramming Nox into me. "Sorry," she whispered.

"It's alright." I whispered back. The car slammed to a stop, which rolled me onto my back, Nox was sprawled across my stomach and very suddenly her smooth lips met mine. It was quick but it felt like it lasted a life time. Nox's face became a pale pink and she slid back over to her spot, trying so hard to keep her eyes from mine. I laughed quietly and realized that had been the first kiss, even if it was really brief, that I had gotten without being trashed. I closed my eyes and thought about her, and my life, and how everything will be different after I get away from here. Just me and Nox, alone at last. But of course my story won't have a happy ending.
