So, this is my new story!! I thought it was about time that I put this up, so here it is. I'll be posting about the same time that I post up my "Change" story, so here it is! Enjoy! Oh and just so you know, I suck at making prologues, so I made this little pathetic one.
I never thought that in an instant my life could take so many different directions. One event could change me completely and ruin my life. One person could make me feel so loved and so hated at the same time and I never thought that so many emotions could be running through a person without internally combusting. And although love and hate are on two ends of the spectrum, both are as terrifying as the other. Somebody full of hate can learn to love and one thing could make hate arise in even the most loving and compassionate person. And most of all, I never knew that without even meaning to, I would begin to love the people that had done me so wrong.
I smiled up at my bodyguard, Jonathon, when I saw I was halfway down the emergency fire ladder. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, Bella," he said, smiling kindly down at me.
I quietly climbed down the ladder and as soon as my feet touched solid ground, Jonathon began pulling up my escape route from my balcony. I lightly tiptoed across the heavily fertilized and too lush lawn of my "home" and as soon as I hit the sidewalk, I ran.
This was routine now. Every day or so I would escape my house and run to a cafe close by. Like today, I would walk into the Cafe, panting slightly from the 10 minute run. I would take my usual seat near the stage and waiting on the table would be my usual cup of hot chocolate with the whipped cream in the shape of a heart. After taking a sip of the sweet drink, I would look up at Aidan and he would wink at me with the sweetest smile.
He sat alone on stage, a guitar in his hands and a microphone in front of him. His long, black hair and the dimmed, reddish lighting played off one another, reflecting off his straight hair. His beautiful brown eyes shone with the mischief and kindness that he always possessed, but he had a type of seriousness that he only held when he was playing his music. He sat there tuning his guitar and every few seconds, he would steal glances at me. At this exact time every day, he would play the same song and dedicate it to me.
Once his guitar was tuned, he would look up and make eye contact with every person in the cafe, resting his gaze lastly on me. He would lick his pink lips and say into the microphone, "My last song is dedicated to my love."
Then he would sing and strum along on his instrument.
Today however was slightly different. Today there was a rose on my table with a note underneath. It read:
Meet me in front of the cafe after my last song.
When the last note left his lips and the last chord on his guitar played, everyone in the cafe broke out into soft applause. He said a short "thank you" and exited the stage into the backroom.
People began filing out and I finished the last of my hot chocolate before leaving the cafe. I leaned on the side of the building, letting the cool breeze of the summers night hit my warm face. I twirled the rose between my forefinger and my thumb, occasionally bringing it up to my nose and breathing in the sweet smell, allowing it to calm my soul.
I closed my eyes and rested my head against the wall. Aidan's song echoed in my head and I smiled at the image of him singing and how serene he looked. When he was on stage, he was a completely different person. He was calmer and more passionate than his actual funny and completely insanely crazy self. And that was why I loved him.
"Why you smiling?"
I snapped open my eyes in shock and shrieked when I saw how close our faces were. His hands were on the wall on either sides of my head and he was cracking up hysterically at my reaction. "Aidan! You have to stop doing that!"
He leaned back a bit and put his hands on his knees, laughing so hard I thought he was going to pee himself. I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes, trying to hide my smile unsuccessfully. He just kept on laughing and eventually, since his laughter is so contagious, I began laughing too. Finally, he calmed himself down and he straightened up to his 5 foot 10 inch height. He held that mischievous boyish grin on his face and resumed his position with his hands on the wall on either side of my head. "I'm sorry Bella. You know I can't resist. It's just so cute when you get scared."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." I rolled my eyes again and put my hand on his chest trying to push him away, unsuccessfully.
"It is!" he said, enthusiastically. "See, you still have that little smile that you always get when I scare you."
"You're acting as if I get scared extremely easily," I said.
"That's 'cause you do," he said. I narrowed my eyes, playfully.
"No I don't."
"Yes you do."
"No I don't."
"Yes you do."
"No I don't."
"Fine, you don't."
"Yes I do." My eyes widened and I opened my mouth in surprise. My lips curled into a smile. "You tricked me."
"Yeah, I didn't think it would work," he said. His eyes shined with mischief and danced with joy.
"Congratulations. You finally managed to trick me," I said.
"Don't I get a prize?" he asked. He pouted a bit, but his eyes shone even brighter with mischief than ever.
"What kind of a prize?" I asked.
"How about a kiss?" he asked, leaning closer to me. I grinned and kissed him lightly. He licked his lips. "Mmm, tastes like cherries."
"God, you're weird," I said, pushing him off of me. I started to walk down the sidewalk. He ran slightly to catch up with me and when he did, he grabbed my hand and kissed it lightly.
"So, do you remember what today is?" he asked.
"Of course!" I said. He smiled excitedly. "Its June 21st."
His face fell. "What else is it?"
"Hmmm is it?... No wait that comes in February," I pretended to think and after a minute I shrugged. "I give up."
"Bella! Its our 3 year anniversary! How could you forget?!" he asked, looking really hurt.
I rummaged in my pocket and took out an envelope. I gave it to him. He looked at me quizzically. "Go ahead. Open it."
He opened the envelope and took out the letter inside. "'Ha ha, I got you. Happy anniversary.'?" he read. I smiled, triumphantly and then he got it. "You tricked me?" I nodded. "Damn! I fall for it every year!"
"You know what they say. 'Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.'" I said. His face fell and I jumped up a bit to reach his cheek and kissed it. "It's okay, sweets. So where are we going?"
Tell me what you think! The story will relate more to the prologue and catch pace at around the third chapter, so be please patient and please review!
