Reminder

The note on his door reads:

"Hello,
I am your reminder.
The reminder of all you had
To instigate the pain of what you lost.
The reminder that you used to see rainbow
But now colors strike you blind...

Are you, dear boy,
A simple piece of paper?
You fold under pressure
You take on what people tell you to
You're easily torn by simple mistakes
And now you've been thrown away...

Now you flood your eyes
And spill them over in tragic disgrace
Your breathing labors and draws short
Your victories mean nothing
Your defeats are now their place...

Your heart has torn
Broken on the floor
Beautiful shattered glass
Reflecting mirrors of your lost love
Don't call for her to return
Don't hold out your arms for an embrace
No longer profess promises of the future
She is not there...

Crumble to your knees, dear boy
Hold your drowning face in your trembling hands
You dig your shaking fingers deep into your temples
Though you suppress it, I, this reminder,
Hears your heartbroken screams of
Pain, denial, and loss...

Pick your head up just once more
And with your shriveling voice
Call for her just one more time
Whispering...
Whispering into the air
The request just fading...
Sailing away...

If you see her in imagery,
Never touch her.
If you dare to touch
She will cry for you
But crumple into merely dust
Floating to the ground at your feet
Before the gentle wind takes it all away...
All of it but me, your reminder...

So scream your pain...
Scream her name until you have no voice...
Cry crystal streams until the oceans overflow...
Tremble until cold no longer is a feeling...
Lose feeling with your heart until it finally numbs away...

You may throw me away,
But I'll just emerge again.
I am your reminder...
And I will show up everywhere...
Everywhere and nowhere
Day or night...

Until next we meet.

Sincerely,
Your Reminder"

There was a folded piece of paper
Taped delicately to his bedroom door
Waiting for him to return from his search...
His search for where she has gone...
