By the River
I stand by the river and watch the colors play –
blue, brown, green and glittering white
chasing each other across the ripples
of shining silk.
I dance on the dew-wet grass
with the sunlight and the shadows
of whispering trees.
I hold out my hands to embrace the wind.
I lie down looking up and up
at the endless, boundless blueness
of the sky.
