The Hidden Christmas Tree
There is a Christmas tree within these woods,
Untouched, unseen, and near forgotten.
It seems unloved but I love it still,
This wistful, hidden tree.
It appears the same as every evergreen,
And stands together with them all,
Hidden and unseen,
This lofty, solid, wistful pine I love alone,
This Christmas tree of Christmas trees.
It is lonely and it wilts,
And snow falls off as it tilts.
It is never seen.
It is never found,
But yet I know that it's around.
So one day far within the future,
At a Christmas dear to heart,
I will find that lonely, lost, and wistful tree,
And take you there for all to see.
