I don't know what it feels like,

But it might feel like this.

Bright echoes of laughter,

Small pieces of bliss.

The longing to be

Anywhere that you are,

The way you excite

Both my mind and my heart.

I don't know what it feels like,

But it feels not the same

As others that vainly

Have taken love's name.

A deeper commitment,

More powerful force;

Can it be that these things

Set my heart on its course?

I don't know what it feels like,

But I know what it entails.

It's patient, it's kind,

And it never fails.

The quest to be all

That you need me to be,

To hold and to comfort you

When you can't see.

I don't know what it feels like,

But I know you, my friend.

Though I've not felt your touch,

My spirits you mend

With every word that I read

That has come from your hand.

It feels like I'm living

In that distant land

Where God has so blessed me

With one such as you.

Am I making this up,

Or can it be true?

I don't know what it feels like,

And may not for some time,

But still I thank God

Just for making you mine.
