All That Matters

Aca and I went down yet another street. The darkness clouded us. My face was set in determination. After asking several people the whereabouts of Viggo or his target we decided it would be best we played his game. Actually Aca decided to go after the girl.

After interrogating some very unfriendly vampires with Aca's violent strategy we had discovered the whereabouts of the "ambitious female" as one vampire said. She was on her way back to her condo.

"What exactly is the capital?" I asked as my shoes went against the tar. Aca's fingers brushed against my hand.

"Please don't ask me that." He sighed. I looked at him curiously. He saw it and sighed. "It's not a place you want to know about."

"Why would knowing where it is be a bad thing?" I asked as I followed him toward a bunch of condos.

"It would prove our existence." Aca stated looking up at the only window with the light on. "He said 423, right?" I checked up at the lit window than remembered the man's words as Aca broke another part of his strong body.

"Yes he did." I said looking over at door that led to the woman's house. "Are we breaking in?" I really didn't need to ask. I sighed watching Aca pull the door open hard. I went inside with him.

The living room was dark, but my eyes were quick to adjust. The dark blue couch in circled a glass coffee table. A small television sat in a table against the wall. Aca held my hand as we walked into the kitchen. Something fell off the refrigerator. I saw a black turn to hiss at us before sulking into the kitchen.

"Don't move." I felt the barrel of a handgun in-between my shoulder blades. The voice was full of ice.

"Put the gun down or your arms are going to be across the room." Aca told her in an equally cold voice.

"Is that a threat buddy?" One hand was hugging my waist. "You're girlfriend isn't going to do too good if you keep it up with that mouth of yours."

"We actually weren't here for you." I told her as I leaned my head against her body, hitting her shoulder.

"Sure vampires." The word stung me only a little bit. "I know how badly you don't want to be exposed. You're all after me."

"A man named Viggo is coming after you." Aca said moving his hands up in surrender. I could tell he was about to pull a fast one on her.

"This is a trick." She hissed. Her tongue clicked against the roof of her mouth.

"No trick." I stated. "We aren't bounty hunters. We're just looking for him and we know he is after you." There was a long pause before she let me go. Aca's body became less tense.

"Okay, but no tricks." She stated looking at us quickly. I nodded. "I'm Tammie by the way."

"May and Aca." I introduced. "He could be here any minute." I looked around. Aca had my hand. I knew he didn't trust her.

She looked at me with cold blue eyes. Her hair was pulled back in a high blonde ponytail. She had a silver ring in her nose and wore hip hugger black jeans. Her tight black T-shirt with tiny cut outs of stars that showed her flesh.

"You sure about that." Viggo had his hand around Tammie's neck. She choked. He wasn't as strong as Aca so I had time.

I was quick to pry Viggo's fingers from the woman's neck leaving bruises. Aca caught her as I slammed him to the floor. I pinned him down forcefully. He laughed as he looked into my eyes.

"You're of my line. Why are you fighting me?" I was tempted to rub my eyes as if to become human again, but I stared into his hungry red eyes.

"You killed my parents." I growled at him in a low rumble. "Thomas and Meredith Montgomery." He stared at me for a moment than remembered suddenly.

"You're the little girl." My hands went to his forearms loosening it a bit. "Their daughter."

"Yes, I want to know why they were murdered." My hands were off his arms now. My thumbs pressed against his elbow.

"You'll never know." I than felt myself move. He was trying to get up, but his arms wouldn't move. "I can't move my arms." I suddenly realized my arms felt stronger.

"May, your power has grown." Aca informed me. I felt Viggo try to kick me as I sat on his stomach, but I slammed his ankles down. A loud crack echoed. My legs felt stronger.

"This is weird." I mumbled. If my power had grown what did this mean? Did I have a power like Aca? I shook it off. "You can't move Viggo." I mocked. "Tell me the story." I heard him sigh. His soft round features were almost innocent.

"I had a team around that time." He started off. "Your father had taken a vial from our king. The king of vampires. It was filled with his blood. He was going to expose us. We had no choice." I thought about it. The long hours I barely saw my father, but than why was my mother killed? She stayed at home. "We were hungry. You were small and reminded me of my mother." Mother? I was three. "Sire, mother same thing. Your mother was just a victim. We didn't even have a chance to get the vial. We were blinded by hunger."

"You took their lives for bounty and hunger." Aca hissed. I could see Viggo's head bob up.

"Aca?" He moaned a bit. "I've heard of you. Don't you kill just to see if you can? Challenges, is it?" I turned to Aca.

"I know I shouldn't be criticizing you, but I'm a bit fueled by the death of my love's parents?" He gave a disgusting smile.

"A girl?" He looked at me with red eyes. "You're his? It figures you end like us."

"No it doesn't!" I spat. My hands wrung his neck. His windpipe cracked. I let go as he choked. "My parents were good people. Whether they stole something from you or not doesn't make them bad." I didn't even know what I was saying. I felt dizzy. I tried to calm down.

"May was it?" He was choked, but he was healing quickly. "I never got my bounty for that mission. I never got the blood vial." I tried to get what he was saying. "Instead of letting me die at your hands right now, right the wrong your father did. Bring the blood back to the king." Why was he being noble like this?

"You just want to save your ass." I laughed looking at his dumb found face.

"Can't blame a guy for trying." He breathed and closed his eyes.

I thought about everything. About the years without parents. The years spent with my sister. All the times I spent working with little friends. My wasted childhood. The wrong path my sister had taken. All this could be prevented if my parents had lived.

Yet I couldn't blame Viggo. Not for doing his job. I would be a hypocrite if I let him live I guess. Maybe I was stupid, but I had to give it a shot.

"Aca." I turned to him getting off Viggo. "What should I do?" He looked at me as a groggy Tammie watched us.

"Do whatever your heart desires." He told me with a sigh. "I don't care as long as I am with you forever." Again he was sweet in the mist of a terrible decision.

I thought for a moment than walked up to Aca. I stared into those maroon eyes that used to scare me. The teeth that had torn through my skin. His beautiful body and face. My lips pressed against his. I pushed his face against mine. His lips were eager, but soft. He wasn't sure what to do. I broke from the kiss looking at him. He kissed me again slowly.

"Okay," I turned to Viggo. "You are going to help us." I saw him smile. "If you in any way try to hurt us Aca or I will happily slaughter you." I pressed my hand to his arm. I drained the power back into his arms. He moved them again. "The plan is we go to the capital to return the vial. I need to know why my father did this. I need to right his wrong."

"Good call." Viggo said with a smile.

"I'm going with you guys." Tammie moaned. "I need to explain that me knowing where the capital is isn't going to be a problem." I turned and Aca moaned.

"I'm not liking this plan." He shook his head. "Too many people and the capital is no place for us to be."

"You have her." Viggo stated still unable to move his legs. "Does it matter?"

I looked to Aca and saw in his glowing red eyes. It really didn't matter.

Sadly this is the end of the story. It was hard to write. Let me know if I should write a sequel. Also if there was a sequel what minor characters do you like enough to want to see more of them.

Thanks to everyone who reviewed and supported this story through its ups and downs. I really hope to hear more from you guys. :D
