The Curtain
I am the curtain concealing the past.
I'll keep my vigil until the last.
To cords of time I am held fast;
Created never to tear.
-
I know of all lessons which have been taught.
I know every dream which has been wrought.
Every idea and every thought;
New philosophies are rare.
-
Repeating the errors, and not a few;
All strive to be first with something new.
I cannot speak, "It is untrue."
I cannot the hardship spare.
-
With time machines it is said I've been tried.
In truth, I'll never be pushed aside.
Until time ends, I will abide;
To be freed from my great care.
