A Romance to remember

A Romance to remember

Prologue

Never in her wildest dreams did she think that this would happen. Of course, she never thought that anyone could fall in love at military camp.

Chapter 1

I walked into General Tracey's office. I was scared to death of the man. His eyes seemed to pierce through your skin whenever he glared at you. His greasy beard was long and mysteriously sharp. He must use some foreign type of hair gel or something, but I think that he collects skunk's spray and uses that.

I quietly shut the door behind me and stood in front of the general's desk. The back of his chair faced me. I stood with my shoulders squared, head held high and feet straight towards him.

"You called for me, s-sir." I stuttered as he turned his chair around to look at me with a surprisingly friendly face.

"Kelley, I'm sorry, your father is not coming," General apologized.

"Thank you, Sir," I said, close to tears.

I was supposed to be a student here, but my father didn't sign the papers. If I was to get in, I would have to have a scholarship, but that was not likely to happen.

"Kelley," he said. "Would you like to stay and be enrolled?"

"Yes, Sir, I would like that very much." The tears in my eyes seemed to evaporate as I got excited.

"I have looked at your records, academic, physical, and such, and if you are willing to go into the military, I will give you a scholarship."

God, he just practically read my mind, Kelley thought. "Sir, I just don't want to go home."

"Scholarship?"

"Yes."

"You are in cabin 4A."

"Thank you very much, sir."

I had been here a few days, stuck in a tiny room. I was overjoyed to not go home. I walked towards my cabin, and was being stared at by everyone. I really was the only girl in camp. I walked into my cabin, and saw that there was only one bed untaken. I threw my stuff into the drawers, and went to look for sheets, blankets, and pillows.

As I made my cot more comfortable, a strange, British-type voice asked, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I happen to have gotten a scholarship, and leave me the hell alone." I didn't bother to look at the boy as I plumped my pillows.

"But you're a girl!"

I stood up, looked the boy in the eye (more like I looked down at him; he was a full four inches under my 5-foot 8).

"You know, I never noticed. Thank you so much for telling me this completely unobvious news. And do I give a crap what the rest of you moronic assholes think. No, so shut the hell up and give me 5 seconds to make my fuckin' bed!!" I screamed at him and his eyes became bigger than Oreos.

"Umm…AHHHHHH!!" The strange, unknown and annoying boy screamed as if I had just grown an extra 50 heads in a split second (he sounded like a girl).

His face went back to its normal boring state and he turned to walk away.

"Wait, you shrimp, what's your name?"

"Eryk, what's yours?" He said turning at the sound of his commonly used nickname.

"Kelley." I answered calmly." I already know that you and I aren't going to get along so let's spit shake that we will never talk to each other and I will never have anymore problems in my life!" I added, spitting into my right hand.

"What the hell am I supposed to do?" Eryk said disgusted.

"Spit in your fuckin' hand and then shake mine. Oh, and don't lick it. My brother did that once and got mono." I said smiling at the memory. "Yeah, whatever, just spit in it."

"Okay." Eryk said uneasily, spitting into his right hand and shaking mine.

"Deal." We both said.

"SHOWER TIME!!" General yelled into a mega phone as if we wouldn't hear him without it.

"UUGGHH…" We all groaned in unison.

" Remember the four golden rules of military camp: no touching, no grabbing, no staring and no laughing, Got it?"

"Got it!!"

As all of the boys gathered up their clothes to take their showers, Eryk went up to the general and said, "Sir, my partner went home."

"Ahh.. yes. Your new partner is…Kelley.:"
