There's something that I can't quite explain
I'm so in love with you
You'll never take that away
And if I've said a hundred times before
Expect a thousand more
You'll never take that away

He sat next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Hey, hun," he said, kissing her cheek. "How is my sunshine doing?"

She elbowed him. "You know I don't like pet names."

"But I love you!" he said loudly.

"You don't need to call me sunshine for me to know that."

He grinned. "I know you love it pumpkin."

"Pumpkin?"

Well expect me to be
Calling you to see
If you're okay when I'm not around,
Asking if you love me
I love the way you make it sound
Calling you to see
Do I try too hard to make you smile,
To make us smile...

"Hello?"

"Hey babe!" he said enthusiastically

"Did I forget something?" she asked.

"No, I just wanted to hear your voice."

"I just saw you two minutes ago," she pointed out.

"Much too long to be away from you, sugar plum."

She groaned. "Stop calling me those stupid names."

"They aren't stupid! I think they fit you very well," he said with a cuckle.

"You think it's funny?"

"No, I think you're cute."

I will keep calling you to see
If you're sleeping are you dreaming
If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me?
I can't believe you actually picked me

"Hey, beautiful, how'd you sleep?"

She sat up in her bed. "It's five in the morning. Is there a particular reason you're calling?"

"I was just thinking about you and decided to call to see how you were doing," he said with a happy voice.

"Well I was sleeping great until you called," she said with a yawn.

"What were you dreaming of?"

She chuckled. "Not you."

I thought that the world had lost its way
(It's so hard sometimes)
Then I fell in love with you
(Then came you)
And you took that away
(It's not so difficult, the world is not so difficult)

The doorbell rang. She ran downstairs and opened the door, not expecting to see him standing in the rain with no coat or umbrella. Especially at six am.

"What's wrong?" she asked immediately. "Are you a—"

Before she could finish her sentence, he'd grabbed her face and his wet lips were on hers. He kissed her fiercely, as if they hadn't seen each other in days when in reality it had been less than 12 hours.

"I love you, buttercup," he said, pressing his forehead against hers. "Always remember that."

"What's wrong?" she asked again, suddenly very worried.

He shook his head. "Nothing. I just need you to know that."

You take away the old, show me the new
And I feel like I can fly when I stand next to you
So while I'm on this phone
A hundred miles from home
I'll take the words you gave
And send them back to you

He held her hand as they walked past screaming children and couples just like them.

"What ride next, honey bun?" he asked.

She wrinkled her nose at him and looked around. "Ooh," she pointed to a rollercoaster. "Let's go on that one."

His eyes widened. "No."

She pouted. "Why not?"

He looked everywhere, but at her. "You know I can't ride rollercoasters."

She rolled her eyes. "It was just a little throw up and besides, you were a little kid. Plus, you haven't eaten anything since we got here."

He shook his head. "I don't want to have a repeat."

She tugged him over to the line. "I'll hold your hair up."

He looked at her in confusion. "I don't have much hair for you to hold up."

"Then I'll hold your hand."

I only want to see
If you're okay when I'm not around,
Asking if you love me
I love the way you make it sound
Calling you to see
Do I try too hard to make you smile,
To make us smile...

"I can't believe you're going all the way across the country to go to school!" she said angrily.

"I need to," he said, holding her close.

"Why?" she asked, pulling away.

"Because I can get a really good education and I got a really good scholarship there."

"But…why?"

He pulled her back into a hug. "So I can take care of my family."

I will keep calling you to see
If you're sleeping are you dreaming
If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me?
I can't believe you actually picked me...

"So this is it," he said sadly. "I will write and call every day."

Tears streamed down her face. "Don't go," she whispered.

He kissed her forehead. "I need to. I'll visit you as soon as I can."

"Flight 2226 to North Carolina now boarding at gate A 26. Any families with children under 5 years of age, please line up."

"I have to go soon," he said softly, hugging her tightly. "I love you."

She kissed him hard. "I love you, too."

I don't own the lyrics to Calling You by Blue October, no matter how much I love the song.
