A rainy afternoon at the end of May

I'm dreaming dreams of a sunny day

In my small, quiet room

The dogs are barking to the window moans

And a natural comfort warms my bones

It's just the noise, I assume

A rare warm day at the start of the Fall

The feeling of becoming a part of it all

It eases my fears

In jeans and a T-shirt I cannot complain

Walking with a grin that I cannot contain

The colors reappear

And it's okay

I do not mind

The loneliness

I'm just moving forward

Exerting it all toward

something more.

Waking in a cold sweat, lost and afraid

Sleeping in the bed that I have made

Your face, a broken dream

But I'm keeping cool and I'm laying low

And soon I know the pain will go

Like ripples in a stream

I swim into the light and dance into the storm

Keeping my balance and holding my form

Resting my eyes

Lay with the snowfall and the thundering night

Free from the sting of the darkness bite

Into the sunrise

So it's okay

Take your time

In knowing this

We're all just moving forward

Exerting it all toward

something more.

And if I should break

and become one with the sea

Just keep moving forward,

forward without me.
