planck time
--

every second beauty is lost,
the things that i've loved have relinquished their lustre,
becoming brutal, decisive. so quick to pain.
they used to be gentle with my feelings,
all glossy sheen. to be sure i have never seen
the blade until it struck. so this duplicity
confounds me, it coaxes me to calmness.
still, i laugh at the light, their cruel charm -
and one by one, i shoot them, a fury of stars
slowly fainting into the silent sky.

the last fire fades, the galaxy all dust.
i smile into shadows that eclipse my sadness,
eyes stoic satellites, pretending to sparkle,
teeth like the milky way.
