"I'll miss you so much, Chelsea!"

My best friend, Melissa, threw her arms around me, tears in her eyes.

I couldn't help but laugh at her dramatics. "I'll miss you too, but you know I'm going to visit once in a while." It was the last day of our sophomore year and I was moving to a city an hour away immediately after school ended. It was the last time I would see my friends in a long time.

"I know, but it'll still be lonely without you around every day," she said finally letting go of me.

I gave her a big smile. "Thanks."

I turned to my other best friend, Taylor. She the best of the best of the best, and I was going to miss her terribly. I gave her a big hug. "Let me know when there will be football games and dances I can go to."

She hugged me back just as hard. "Of course. Tell me if you meet any cute guys."

"And send me a picture of them," Mel added.

I laughed. "If I can find the courage to ask for a picture, I'll definitely send one to you guys. Just keep me updated on everybody else."

"Have you said goodbye to Phil yet?" Taylor asked, a knowing smile coming out.

I blushed. "Not yet. I'm too scared."

Phil was the boy I had a crush on. He was really cute and I had had a crush on him since 8th grade. He was really popular with the girls, though, and being on the football team just added to that. I wasn't usually nervous around him, but when I said good bye, I wanted to give him a hug.

"Why?" Mel asked. "It's just a hug."

"Yeah, but I've only ever hugged you guys and I'm nervous," I said. "What if he doesn't want to hug me?"

"I bet he will," Taylor said with disgust. "He likes hugging any girl he can get his hands on." Taylor didn't really like Phil because she thought he was a pervert. She thought it was cute to a certain level that I liked him so much, but she didn't approve of him. She's told me multiple times that I can do so much better.

"Well, I gotta go." I hugged them both again. "I'll see you guys later, hopefully sooner."

We laughed and I walked off, going to search for Phil.

I found him a few halls over, walking with a few of his friends.

"Phil!" I called, running to catch up to him.

He turned and smiled as I reached him. "Hey, Chelsea. What's up?"

"Hey, Phil." I smiled nervously. I wasn't sure what I was going to say. "Um, I'm leaving now and I might not see you for a while and I want—well I was wondering, if I could get a hug from you before I go?" I blushed and hurried to try and make my question sound better. "I'm getting hugs from all my friends before I leave and I—"

Before I could finish my sentence, he took a step toward me, took my face in his hands and kissed me. I was, of course, surprised so I didn't have any time to respond before he pulled away. There were a few 'oohs' and a whistle from his friends, but I ignored them.

He smiled a little. "Goodbye."

"Wait," I said before he could turn away. He looked at me expectantly. "Can you do that again?" I asked quietly, suddenly more nervous around him than I had ever been before. But his grin made all that go away as his head lowered toward mine again. This time I kissed him back.

"Chelsea!"

I jumped back in surprise and turned to look at my brother who was walking toward us. "Come on! We're leaving!"

"I'll be there in a sec!" I yelled.

He groaned and turned to leave. I looked back at Phil.

"I'll see you later," he said.

I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a big hug. "Yes you will." I then turned and ran after my brother.

This is the shortest one-shot I have ever written. It's actually what I wish happened when I moved in my freshman year. I still have a crush on the guy, in fact, I've convinced myself its love (something I take very seriously), but sadly, he loves a friend I introduced him to. Story of my life.
