Glassy tears poured down from the goddess's eyes, hitting the ground softly. Her crystal dress brushed lightly back and forth over her beautiful legs as she trembled quietly. Long, golden hair caressed her shoulders. Her body glowed as beautiful golden rays shone from her skin. But she knew they wouldn't shine for much longer. She was the last of her kind. All of the others had died; their inner flame had been extinguished as the darkness grew stronger.

She now stood upon the dark, empty sphere shaped from the remains of the other goddesses. The graveyard of her subjects and friends.

Her perfect knees began to shake as exhaustion washed over her. Her body became immensely weak as the light emerging from her began to flicker. It was a scene of pure sadness that a being of such beauty and magnificence could die such a lonely and unjust death. A being that should be lifted up to the highest of heavens brought down to its knees unmercifully to die.

Her light flickered again as is began to fade away, and then died out completely as one last crystal tear slipped from her face.

The sphere shook as the breath of the highest and last goddess of the universe left her body.

But all hope was not lost. Suddenly, the goddess's eyes shot out from her body and broke into millions of pieces, settled against the sky and sparkled brilliantly over the sphere. Clear blood seeped from her body, creating great and small expanses of water across the sphere. Her finger nails burst into pieces as her eyes had and planted themselves within the remains of the other goddesses, creating plants of all kinds. Her golden hair suddenly pulled free from her head and flew into the sky. The golden thread entwined into a magnificent golden ball then, burst into flames, warming the sphere.

At last her heart broke free from her body and shattered... spreading across the sphere, forming creatures of all kinds. But there was one kind of creature that received a part of her knowledge, the creatures that would rule the sphere.

With a shudder the rest of her body dissolved into the sphere and she was gone.

The darkness took joy in the last of the goddesses dying, but it was filled with anger as it discovered what she had created in her death. With a howl of rage the darkness swept down upon the sphere hoping to destroy it. But with the combined power of the goddesses, and especially of the chief goddess it found that it could not penetrate the sphere. It tried many different attacks and eventually found a way to seep little bits of its power through, but not enough to destroy. The darkness's anger abated slightly, but determination filled it as it vowed to not relent until it had consumed the sphere and destroyed it.

And it was the beginning of love and life, but also of hate, wickedness and struggle. And life strives to resist the darkness.
