Chapter 12: Pick-up Lines Mania
I grinned as I passed by the hall and everybody stopped and stared at me.
Many were keeping tabs on my actions in pursuing Kyla and some were even betting on what pick-up line I will use next.
The girls were betting that it will be another angel line. While the boys said that it will be an I-am-dazzled-by-you line. And the ghettos said that it will be a sexual innuendo line which the punks and skaters agreed.
I shook my head. Sexual innuendo? Never would I treat Kyla as some cheap slut. I just hope that she was not all that angry because of the events of the past days.
I met the guys at the parking lot after dismissal and we went to our favorite coffee shop. Essence.
It was our usual hang-out place after school. Except on Mondays; that's the only day when we don't get off at the same time.
I sipped my frappucino and looked at the people walking in the sidewalk.
Ever since David went all out on pursuing me, everyone had been alert on our every move-- well, more like on what David's next pick-up line would be. I can't believe they were even betting on that.
Thankfully, the rumors about me were being controlled because of the guys.
"You know, I really don't get why David uses pick-up lines on you. It's so unlike him." Cassie said after a while.
"Yeah. Me too." Rylie added.
"Aside from being lame, it's just so downright stupid." I said.
"Actually, it's cute. Just different." Cassie said.
"At least he doesn't treat you like he treated his past toys." Raiche said.
I shrugged. "True. But no guy has ever used that on me before. And even on the history of Crescent High. I don't know if I should be flattered or insulted."
They all shrugged.
I shook my head and looked at the street again. And before I knew it, my mind has wandered off to lala land remembering the past few days while the guys were arguing whether Zachary (David's friend) was a hottie or not.
David: *walks by Kyla*
Kyla: *doesn't care*
David: *returns to Kyla* Do you believe in love at first sight?
David: Or should I walk by again?
Everyone: *stop and stare*
Kyla: *in the clinic*
David: *walks in* I'm sick. The doctor told me to get a doze of Vitamin U.
Kyla: *smiles sweetly* Here. Come closer.
David: *in shock, but comes closer*
Kyla: *smiles impishly*
Kyla: Serves you right. *walks off*
David: *tosses paper unto Kyla's desk*
Help! Something's wrong with my eyes!
Kyla: *curious. Looks at him*
David: *smirks* I just can't take them off you.
Kyla: Uhh! I should have known not to fall for that.
Kyla & David: Sorry, Mrs. Dynes.
David: *walks by Minx Fusion and stops*
The guys: *raised a brow while smiling, amused*
David: Hey! Is there an airport nearby or is that just my heart taking off?
Cassie: Nope. Just your heart.
The guys: *laughs*
David: *mesmerized by Kyla*
The guys: *shook their heads*
David: I hope you know CPR because you take my breathe away.
Kyla: ... *walks off*
(in a restaurant)
David: *acting as a waiter* Are you lost, ma'am?
David: Because heaven's a long way from here.
Kyla: *glares* Where's your manager?!
The guys: *smirks*
David: You must be tired. Because you've been running through my mind lately.
Kyla: *throws the ball at David and walks off*
Zachary: Let go off the ball, man.
David: *approaches Kyla*
Kyla: Don't start.
Kyla: Don't wanna hear it, Matthews!
David: You sure?
David: Okay, Can I have your number?
David: I'll just text it to you then.
Kyla: Ahh! You're so incorrigible! *storms off*
David: *turns toward Zachary* Hear that? She digs me.
"Kyla? Helloooo?" Cassie waved her hand in front of my face, successfully putting a stop to my thoughts.
I blinked my emerald eyes and turned to face her. "Huh?"
The guys looked at me with knowing smirks.
"What?" I asked.
They all shook their heads.
"You know, I'm starting to think that you're falling for David." Cassie said.
"No, I'm not!" I replied vehemently.
"Yeah, you are." Rylie replied.
"No, I ain't!"
"Yes, you are!!"
"Yes!" Rylie replied while sticking her tongue out at me.
"No!" I stuck my tongue at her too.
The guys shook their heads at our antics while rolling their eyes.
"Stop it, you two. Rylie, don't force Kyla to admit it. We all know she's still in her denial stage." Jezhie commented while finishing her latté.
"I am NOT!" I replied indignantly.
"Sure, sure." Cassie said, offhandedly.
"Keep telling yourself that." Raiche seconded.
"Ugh!" I buried my face in my hands while the guys chuckled lowly.
