I'm Okay With That.

A/N: I'm supposed to be judging SKoW nominees, but I got distracted. Opps. This is a Member Challenge from SKoW called T-Rex, Princess Barbie, and How They Ruled the School. The requirements are underlined throughout the story. Here's the details:

Main Idea: Boy and girl are best friends. Boy and girl fall in love. The end. (No, it's not that cliché).

Requirements:

-MC and her best friend must called each other "T-Rex" and "Princess" or "Princess Barbie" due to how they met.

-They have coed sleepovers.

-They must have a "thing" that is exclusively theirs (i.e., sitting on the roof outside MC's window watching the stars or something equally corny, but cute)

-Must include the following dialogue: "Um, don't you think we're a little too old for coed sleepovers?" "Actually, I was under the impression that we were a little too young." "Guys have sick minds, you know that?" "Yet you still manage to sleep with them." "Sleep WITH, not SLEEP with. Or SLEEP with, not sleep WITH. Whichever one involves 100% N-O sex involved, got that?

-A Ford Mustang

-A vanilla ice cream with a cherry on top

No:

-Awkward silences. Remember, they're best friends.

-Using the words "awkward silence".

-Staring into each other's eyes.

-Unfortunate accidents where the heroine faints-that one's getting a little too old, don't you think? Plus, it's too annoying. She gets out of trouble because she faints. If the rest of us can't be that lucky, she can't either.

ENJOY.

"HEEYYY PRINCESS!" Talen threw an arm around Kairi's shoulder. "Heard the 'rents are out of town." Kairi nodded. "Am I invited?"

Kairi laughed. "Yes, Talen. You have an open invite. You know that."

"Just checking. And today's Friday! You know what that means!"

"T-Rex! Go away! I know the traditions! We've only been doing them for the past twelve years!" said Kairi, as she shoved Talen off of her.

"Thirteen, Princess. Last week Wednesday was the anniversary!" He winked and walked off, joining his friends.

Kairi turned back to Joss, who gawked at her, her jaw almost touching the floor. "You are so lucky. Talen Rex is so hot."

"Gross. Don't even say that," Kairi said automatically.

"Come on, Kairi! He's got jet black hair and baby blue eyes! He's on every sport team known to man, he's Student Council president, he started the French Club and he makes time for you every week! How can you not think that's hot?"

"He's sweet. Not hot."

"But look at him!" Joss looked ready to pull out her short brown hair in disbelief. Kairi sighed. She had to admit, Talen was much better looking than he was thirteen years ago, but that didn't change the fact that he was the boy who she'd seen catch butterflies and played dress-up with. Not to mention the fact, she'd probably seen him naked about a bazillion times. Not that anyone knew that, nor did she ever mention it to anyone.

Kairi shook her head and Joss gave up. "You're insane, you know that?" Kairi nodded and giggled. She knew her relationship with Talen was a little insane, but that was okay with her.

"Rex!"

"Landon, my boy! Quoi de neuf?" Landon jogged up to Talen.

"Whatever happened to 'What's up?' More people understand that you know." Talen flashed a grin. "Whatever. What are you doing tonight?"

"It's Friday, Landon. I spend time with my girl tonight!" He said with open arms, taking a step back from Landon and towards his next class.

"Kairi Evans, again? If I didn't know better, I'd say you're dating her."

"Well, I'm a ten, she's a ten; it would work out! But we're not!"

"Ten?"

"Sorry. It's a Kairi joke," said Talen.

"Whatever, man. Have fun with her. I'm partying it up with Lucas tonight."

"Don't miss me too much, man! I'll be having way more fun than you! Kairi knows how to host a private party!" He knew that Lucas' party would be great, but missing it for Kairi? He was okay with it.

Kairi's locker slammed shut before her eyes. She looked up at Talen, who had one hand holding the locker door shut and the other hand messing up her long brown hair.

"Mustang is here and ready to roll!"

"T-Rex, just because you got your silly dream car, doesn't mean I'm impressed by it." Talen gasped.

"It's not just a silly dream car, Kairi! It's a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR!"

"That's nice," said Kairi calmly, peeling his hand from her locker and shoving the last of her books on a shelf.

"Is my Princess ready to leave now?" he asked, holding out his hand. She took it in response. They walked down the hall, hand in hand.

Landon and Joss looked at each other and shook their heads.

s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2

"I'd say five."

"No. I'd bump it up to a six. I mean, she's a little better than mediocre."

"What about the guy?"

"Oh, definite ONE. What do you think?"

"Eh. I was thinking zero." Talen tapped his fingers on the food court table. Kairi pondered her decision. They looked at each other.

"Yeah. They won't last. That's at least a 5 point difference." Every Friday, Kairi and Talen visited the local mall and sat in the food court, eating something from Dairy Queen. This week's dessert was a vanilla sundae with a cherry on top. The problem was that there was only one cherry and you had to pay an extra fifty cents for another one. They both anticipated the spoon wars, but that never happened until the ice cream was finished.

"Princess! Ultimate doom right there!" Kairi spotted a tall, muscular blonde boy holding hands with a taller girl with brown hair in a ponytail and thick, wide glasses. He wasn't great looking, but she wore a long, flowered dress that was short enough to see her long white socks underneath and nothing more.

Kairi covered her face. "Oh! I feel so bad for her! If only she knew!" While eating their shared ice cream, they played The Game. The Game was simple. For every couple that walked by, they assigned a number on the scale of hotness to each member. Zero being worse than butt ugly and ten being god-like. If they were more than two points apart, they were doomed to break up. If they were the same, they were guaranteed to marry and if they were apart by one or two points, they had a chance.

"Hey Princess! What's my number?"

"Negative three," she said with a smirk on her face.

"Well, you, Darling, are at a hundred and working your way up." Talen flashed his signature smile. Kairi just winked and said: "Flattery will not get you the cherry!" Talen scoffed.

"In that case, you're at a negative three!"

"So, I'm meant to be with you?" asked Kairi.

"Oh yeah! Didn't you get the memo about the wedding? I sent it on my T-Rex paper and everything!" In Kindergarten, Talen refused to write anything unless it was on his special pad of paper with a picture of a T-Rex in the corner. Yes, he loved the paper dearly, but the real reason behind it was because he didn't know how to spell his middle name, Nathaniel (Kairi still wondered whether he knew how to spell it presently.) and the teacher (also known as Roley Poley, because of the one incident where she 'fell' down the stairs and rolled) required them to spell their middle names on everything. Kairi happened to like the paper too and they became good friends after that. The fact his name began with a T and his last name was Rex didn't dawn on him until much later in his life.

"I'll check the mail. Did you address it to Princess Kairi?" As Kairi called Talen 'T-Rex, Talen called Kairi 'Princess'. When they met on the first day of Kindergarten and Kairi's fourth birthday, she wore a poofy pink dress and black Mary Jane's. Roley Poley gave Kairi a birthday crown and Talen thought she looked like a princess.

"Alright, Princess, enough talk. Who's getting the cherry?"

"You're not getting my cherry," Kairi said coolly.

"I bet I will!" Talen got up from the table and ran off, leaving Kairi alone for a bit. She didn't dare touch the cherry, knowing Talen had something fun up his sleeve. He returned with a bag of grapes. "Darling, we're having a grape shoot out!" Kairi opened her mouth wide. She felt silly as Talen tossed the grape into her mouth with perfect aim. "One for me!" he rejoiced. "Don't mess this up, Princess! I have a whole bag of grapes!" She tossed the grape in lightly.

The game continued on. With only half a bag left, they knew they had to get serious. Shot after shot, they continuously went in, until Talen hit his elbow against the table, sending the grape askew. "HA! I get the cherry!"

"Oh no, you don't, Princess! You have to get one more grape into my mouth to win the cherry!" He opened his mouth and she tossed it in with ease. She picked up the cherry and held it in her teeth, to show off.

What happened next, she didn't expect. Before she knew it, his lips brushed hers. When he pulled away, she only had half a cherry left. She quickly ate it, trying desperately to hide her blush.

"That was delicious!" he said, smiling brightly.

"Yeah," she said slowly. Talen got up from his seat and held out his hand to her.

"Let's go home, Darling." She took his hand and he gently tugged at her arm, leading her out of the mall and into the car.

When he put his hand on hers while he was driving, she noticed the warm, firm grip he had on her hand for the first time.

s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2s2

"Talen, get over to your side!"

"Why? It's warmer by you."

"You shouldn't even be sleeping in the same bed as me!"

"Um, I shouldn't be sleeping over. Period."

"Um, don't you think we're a little too old for coed sleepovers?"

"Actually, I was under the impression that we were a little too young." Her eyes widened. She never even thought about it that way.

"Guys have sick minds, you know that?"

"Yet you still manage to sleep with them." She could sense his smirk.

"Sleep WITH, not SLEEP with. Or SLEEP with, not sleep WITH. Whichever one involves 100% N-O sex involved, got that?" Talen pulled Kairi into his arm, so her back was against his chest.

"Whatever, you say." He rested his head on top of hers. "Kairi, truth or dare."

"Why are we playing truth or dare?"

"Just answer the question."

"Truth."

"Do you think this is weird?"

She blushed. "No."

"Okay."

"Truth or dare?" she asked.

"Game's over. I got all the answers I need." That crooked smile made an appearance again.

"Truth or dare, T-Rex?"

"Dare."

"Kiss me." Talen immediately shot up from his position.

"You want me to WHAT?!"

"Kiss me. I need to figure out something." She rolled over to face him.

"What do you need to figure out?"

"Today, with the cherry, I…"

"You felt it too, eh?" Her eyes widened. He smiled.

"Yeah," she said with relief in her voice.

"It was a good feeling, wasn't it?"

"Yes. It really was." Talen put his forehead against hers. She closed her eyes. Soon, their lips met. The kiss was incredible. They could feel their hearts beat in sync. All the words everyone had one told them about their love came rushing through their minds.

They broke apart.

"So, are we too old or too young?"

"Definitely too young, T-Rex, but that's okay with me." Kairi rolled over again and put her back against his chest. He rested his head on hers again.

"That's okay with me too."
