Something happened long ago in a land where everything is so confusing. Nobody but the girl for sure knows what happened, and no one would understand if she told them. They would just close their ears and say "I don't want to hear this. Keep it to yourself."
The damsel had no idea what to do, and couldn't stop thinking about it. It haunted her in her dreams and woke her up with a cold sweat, shaking at even the thought of it, of him. He broke her down and made her cry about how much worse things could have gotten, but thats just it. Things could not have gotten any worse. She told her friends about what happened, but was helpless to tell them what she really was feeling, how it had cut straight into her heart and straight into her future. One little thing, but enough to scar her for the rest of her life.
The waves inside of her, she could not stop them from coming. They ran across her skin, making her hurt and flinching at the sight of it all. Flinching at the old familiar friend she used to love so dearly, welcoming it back to her...but this time in a new way. This time in a much deeper way, and she smiled. Inside she was dying, but this was a sort of relief to her.
A huge part of her died that day, but something else was born. Something she tried to force down in the very depths of her and not show anyone anymore. No one could know...because no one would understand, except one person. One person who has a constant fear of the night. One person who has seen the ceiling of hell, and felt the disaster of it holding her down.
The damsel tried to forget, but it kept rolling across her mind, something so small but came with so much force and power. It tore at her lungs and left bruises on the inside of her wrists and waist. Marks he had left on her. Battle wounds.
The damsel lives far away now, away from all her friends. In her heart they will always be with her, and she will always love them dearly. She can see them in her dreams and smile at them as they fly past her. She has one person who has moved away with her, who has taken the journey and stood by her side. She has waited forever, and is patient for the rest of the journey to begin. If she dies in her sleep, heaven's arms would open up to become the promise lands. God would surely save her because of her peace with him. He would hold her hand, and make everything okay for her. He was the only one she could trust.
The anniversary of the death of her was coming up, and she would need all the strength in the world to keep herself from fading again. Because strength is key.
