The Drums
The drums of future
And of past
Continue on.
The young boy plays
Out his hopes
And his dreams
Like all who were young
And came before him.
The elderly man plays
Out his memories
At a slower pace
As he recalls
His youth.
The elderly man plays
Even more slower,
But as he almost slows
To a final stop,
The young boy,
Now a young man,
Picks up the playing
Before the elderly man stops.
The young man
Had given up
His boyhood drum
To receive his manhood drum.
