Fear is a terrible cold

That creeps past our skin and burrows in our bones

Sending shivers down our spines

And visions of ruin in our minds

It keeps us from living

Except when it is safe

Life in between expiration dates

Marked with safety warnings

Topped off with child proof caps

Staring out locked windows

Onto the fenced in yards

Waiting for the day

We can discards everything

And be free once more

From this horrible chill.
