Right so I just wanted to make everyone aware that any misspellings in quotations are meant to reflect an accent. I had someone not get that...so now that we're all one the same page. ENJOY!
{Chapter 5}
Ahh Friday! It's second only to Saturday as my favorite day of the week. And tonight we get to eat dinner with Hills' family! …and those other people…what were their names, the something with an M. Marker, Maser, Mas….Masters? I don't know; it's not really important. What is important is that we (more importantly Hayden) get to meet her family! Well speak of the devil! Here comes Hills!
"Reagan! Hayden! I need to talk to you!" Hmm…what does it mean that my name came first this time? Oh, I'm sure it's nothing. I'm just over reacting. "About tonight…everyone brings something for dinner. So you guys can bring Sweet patatas or some kinda meat dish. It's your choice." I looked at Hayden. He's the cook after all.
"We'll do the meat dish. How many people are there?"
"Well, six for my family, three for the Masons, and the two of you, so eleven people unless your folks are comin'." We gave her a horrified look. God I hope not! That would be a disaster. "Wow! Y'all really are twins!" Oh silly Hills. Yikes! H-dawg is making a list run for your lives!
"Alright, enough for eleven. Ray, call Rupert and find out if we have any of that at home."
"Aww man! Why do I have to call? It's your dish."
"You're helping and since the only thing you can manage to make with out burning the house down is microwave mac'n'cheese and a sandwich you get to do the menial stuff." Sigh. One time, you set the stove on fire one time and they never let you near it again.
"Fine fine. But that doesn't mean I have to like it!" Hayden rolled his eyes and started to talk to Hillary. Five minutes later I was off the phone and even had directions to the grocery store. And H-dawg says I'm worthless!
After school we quickly dropped Hills off before running to the store. Did you know H-dawg takes a ridiculous long time to go grocery shopping? Apparently none of the meat in the case was "fresh," so Hayden made them take him to the back room. Did you know they have a giant refrigerator full of meat in the back of grocery stores? It was seriously freaky! But he found what he wanted; I think he called it a Short Loin. It's supposed to be pretty good. H got an awful lot of the stuff though; at least I think he did...
When we got back home our parents were yet again not home. It's really starting to freak us out. We even swept the house for cameras and stuff. No such luck though, they've never neglected one of their experiments like this before. Oh well. I'm kind of glad for it though. this would probably be a thousand times worse if they were actually here.
Rupert, our chef, greeted us at the door this time. He helped Hayden prepare… whatever it is they're making. MY job is to hand them measuring cups and stuff. Oh, and watch the timer, haha! Have I mentioned lately that I don't cook? Yea, me and the kitchen get along about as well as me and the alarm clock. That is to say, not at all. 6 o'clock rolled around and H-dawg was finally done! Guess who got to carry it!? Yup, that's right, yours truly.
"Hey guys! Glad you made it!" Oh Hills, I'm sure she knows I wouldn't miss this for the world. "Come in and we'll get that pot all taken care of!"
"God Bless you Hills! My arms are about to fall off." Hayden gave me a look. He really needs to stop doing that.
"Is it a little too much for the poor lil soccer player?" Oh, he is soo going down! I was just about come back with a witty repartee, but Hills cut me off.
"Well com'on then! The kitchen's this way." I followed her through the house to relieve my load. It's pretty cute actually, very homey. I mean they've got six people so it's not spotless, but I really like it. Wait...six people? So then she has another sibling. This day just got better! I set down the Loin roast and turned to Hills.
"So we should probably introduce ourselves to your parents...and your other sibling?" Hills laughed at me. ...I don't get it. What's so funny? I followed her into the Family Room where I saw two men, two women, her younger brothers, a baby? ...and JASON!
"Holy crap! What are you doing here?" We said at the exact same time. Does that mean his last name is Mason? I always thought our teacher was just mispronouncing his name.
"Wait, you're the "special guests" Hillary was talking about?" I grinned.
"So we're special, huh, Hills?" She blushed and turned away to introduce us.
"This is my mom and dad and my baby sister, Michelle." They smiled and told us to call them Joan and Tom, respectively. "And this is Mr. and Mrs. Mason. Of course you already know Jason and the boys." The Masons smiled politely and Hills' brothers immediately jumped on me.
"Will you play soccer with us?"
"Pretty please we promise to take it easy on you!" They grinned like little imps.
"Well as long as you promise ..." I glanced at Hills, she was frowning. "We'll play after dinner." They got really excited and went to get everything ready so we could start playing right after dinner.
We all sat around and talked for a bit before adjourning to the table.
So you guys aren't gonna believe this, but... I actually had this loaded up ready to publish last night and i fell asleep with the computer on my lap before I could post it. Isn't that ridiculous! Anyway, the next one should be up in a day or two. I'll try to keep that pattern up for as long as possible. Chow!
