The elevator music was more then enough to drive anybody crazy, did it really need to break down while it was in between floors. Addy really felt that it was going a bit overboard on the matter. It was a good thing that she wasn't claustrophobic or this could be worse. From the looks of it the three other people weren't either.
The one other girl seemed rather annoyed to be trapped in such an annoying circumstances. She seemed to be a bit on the upscale sight, not something you would normally see at a city mall, Addy thought. Her skirt was pink and fell to just past her knees and seemed to be made of really nice material. It went well with her cream colored button up blouse. Added in was one of those short pink jackets that Addy herself had never seen the point in. The girl, no woman, was wearing all sorts of nice accessories that went so well with her outfit.
Addy couldn't help but feeling just a little bit plain even standing near the woman. She had this beautiful blond hair that was curled in just the right way and she had pretty almond colored eyes. Addy was sure that the woman had tons of boyfriends.
Addy had dull brown hair that might be a bit on the long side has it fell just past mid back. Her mother was always trying to get her to cut it. She would say that it was just too much hair and that it should be short that way she could look at least somewhat decent. Her eyes were a nice gray that changed colors depending on what she was wearing. It was one of the few things that she liked about herself.
Today when she had gotten up today she had thought to dress casual. Going the mall wasn't one of her favorite activities and she had felt that it wasn't something that you needed to dress up for. She was wearing her blue jeans that a few wholes around the knees and she had thrown on the first shirt that she had picked up that morning, her brother's 'Untouchable' black shirt. It was way too big for her and hid the fact that she had practically no chest. Her normal footwear, boots and that about summed up what she was wearing.
Addy hadn't bothered with fixing her hair beyond brushing it and had just left it down. She never wore make up, unlike the woman in pink did. After mentally comparing herself to the woman she wondered if in comparison she looked like a boy.
Glancing over she looked at the two guys. They were both dressed the same in black baggy clothing. The one with light shaggy brown hair seemed pretty bored with the whole matter and seemed set on just glancing at the other girl every now and then. He like his friend was leaning against the elevator wall and had his arms folded across his chest. He was wearing a jacket unlike his friend though upon closer inspection Addy thought it should have been switched.
The other one was wearing a short black shirt that revealed his pale lean arms. More importantly though it showed the white thin lines that traversed most of the skin. Addy couldn't keep her eyes off them for the longest time. That was until she realized what she was doing and yanked her eyes away in an embarrassment. Blushing she glanced up to see if the man had noticed her obvious appraisal of his arms.
It didn't seem like he had. His…purple eyes? That was an odd eye color, Addy wasn't sure that she had ever seen such an interesting or rare color. The man with the unusual eyes seemed to be staring off into space, not looking particularly bored, just neutral. His hair was a deep black and from the looks of it was tied back into a short pony-tail. He had several piercing in his ears. Three in his right and four in his left. Even his left eyebrow was pierced, she noticed with surprise. It made her wonder how many more the guy had? He was definitely the kind of guy that her mother would tell her to avoid at all costs.
Addy for some reason was very curious about the guy and glanced down once more. He was extremely thin, thinner then Addy herself, and a bit on the tall size. Maybe an inch or so taller then his friend who seemed about 6'0. Then again she wasn't that good of judge of height so what did she know. His shirt she had failed to notice earlier had white cursive writing on it and said 'I'd Fuck You, But I have Taste' She just couldn't believe that somebody would make a shirt that said something like that and quickly moved on with her inspection. Black of course and they fell a bit low on his waist though they did end directly where his combat boots did. It would seem that he had cut the bottom half off she thought eyeing the loose strings that signified the end of the baggy pants.
Having enough of looking at the guy she turned away to look at the numbers that told which floor they were on. It was currently flickering between six and seven. The mall people or whoever had already announced over the intercom that they were doing all that they could to get them out and that we should stay calm. That of course had been an hour ago and it would seem that they wouldn't be going anywhere for a while.
Addy wasn't the only one that seemed to realize this because the blond gave a dramatic sigh and glared at her pink iphone in obvious irritation. The brown haired boy glanced at his watch before staring blankly at someplace once more, occasionally checking out the pink girl.
The other guy however shoved his hand in his pocket and withdrew a pack of cigarettes. He took one out and didn't even hesitate to light it and take a drag. The small room was instantly filled with smoke. The woman did not like this at all and turned from looking at her phone to the white stick that was being held delicately between the guy's fingers.
"Do you mind? Put that out. I don't want my hair smelling like smoke when I get out of here," she said in a high and might voice. She must be used to getting her way, Addy thought silently as she watched the interaction.
The guy turned his quiet eyes to look at her. His expression didn't change from being neutral, not even as he slowly placed the cigarette back in his mouth. He held it there for a second before removing it and blowing the smoke directly towards the woman's face.
She coughed and swatted at the air as though that would make it disappear. However once it had dispensed enough from around her she narrowed her pretty eyes at the man. It would be rather pointless to say that she wasn't pleased with the matter.
"How dare you. You wait until we get out of here I'm going to call security and have you thrown out of here," she threatened.
He didn't even seem to hear what she was saying, for all he did was blow smoke in her face once more. This caused her to scream this time. Addy flinched and almost raised her hands to cover her ears. The brown haired guy didn't have any qualms about doing just that. He looked like he wanted to smack the blond now, instead of wanting to sleep with her.
The smoker actually reacted to this. Not in the normal way however, he just lifted the corners of his lips in a half smile.
After that the next few minutes were filled with the screaming of the blond as the guy finished his cigarette. He didn't go any faster or slower then he would have done if he had been outside. Unlike the other two he was completely oblivious to the noises that the woman was making.
Addy had had her fill of the woman and desperately wanted to get out of the elevator way more then she had before. She was in the corner opposite of the blond and right next to the door. The two guys were leaning against the far wall across from the door, with the smoker closer to Addy.
She wasn't sure she had ever been happier to see a person stop smoking. Once he had stubbed it out under his shoe, the woman had stopped shrieking. Addy thought that it was rather odd that she looked so pleased, since he really didn't stop because of her.
It was just when Addy was sure that the woman was going to make some comment to the guy when the intercom came on. There are such things as small miracles, Addy thought dismally looking up slightly at where the man's voice was coming from.
"Sorry 'bout the delay, folks, but we think we might have this thing movin' in just a few minutes. So if you all can be a bit more patient, we'll have you out in a jiffy," the man's voice cut out and they were once more alone with each other.
"Finally, I don't know how I would have been able to stand another hour with you people," the woman said in her snotty voice, that Addy was becoming to find was worse then nails on a blackboard.
Before more could be said a loud screeching noise was heard from somewhere above. All of them looked up, thinking that they had finally fixed the elevator and that they were going to get out of here. Yet for a few seconds the elevator didn't move.
When it did, Addy wished it hadn't. The elevator sort of jerked and moved sideways. The blond and Addy both lost their balance and stumbled towards the back of the elevator. The blond didn't make it that far though due to those extensive heels, instead she just fell flat on her face.
Addy on the other hand had kept her balance enough to be able to say she slammed directly into the back wall. A moan escaped her just as the elevator settled down. She felt a hand suddenly, lightly touch her wrist. Opening her eyes that she had closed on impact to look up into the violet eyes of the smoker.
It seemed like he was about to say something, when they were once more jerked about. This time the blond screamed and clung to the floor even as she pushed against the wall closest to her. The brown haired guy fell against the very same wall with only a slight grunt escaping him at impact.
Addy fell directly against the dark haired guy, who seemed to be the only one that was able to stand still. His hands almost as a reflect reach up to grab her shoulders to steady her. She looked up at him frightened about what was happening. He however seemed shocked.
"You're a girl?" his deep, slightly husky voice said. It sounded like both a question and a statement all in one.
Addy couldn't help but blink up in surprise. He had thought that she was a boy? Then how did he come to the conclusion that she was in fact a girl. It was then that she recalled that there was in fact no space in between the two of them and her chest was pushed pretty tightly against his. Her face turned bright red and she was sure she would have smacked him or something of that sort if the elevator hadn't started shaking once more bringing them back to the reality of the situation.
Then without any inclination the elevator dropped at an alarmingly fast speed. This time the blond wasn't the only one to scream.
