Do or Die
by, Cassandra
"It's my dream," the writer writes,
"so why am I so afraid to open my eyes?"
- and -
"It's my life," the paper reads,
"so why am I not the one holding the reins?"
- and -
"So many times" the author boasts,
"but it's never enough, even though I try."
- but -
It's all a lie. I've never dreamed.
Not of me. Not of mine.
It's all a lie.
- and -
It's not life. I've never lived.
Not for real. Not in truth.
It's not life.
- and -
There's no more time.
I can't just try.
I must fly.
This time,
it's do or die.
