Trapped But Alive

I'm trapped.

By the fences of our anger,

The feeling of demise,

A cage of broken lies.

Running blame

Through the tips of our fingers.

'I'm sorry' and 'I don't care!'

Being tossed everywhere.

It's scary and amazing,

When I'm standing here

And you're two steps behind.

Waiting for the stairs to unwind.

Break off of you

And step back.

Learn how to breathe

Take a temporary leave.

Don't know what the sunrise will bring.

Don't quite have it all

Figured out in my head

Don't know where my anger led.

And what it all comes down to

Is staying alive and in love.

Understanding and being there,

Showing you that I care.
