Prologue
The story is simple. Boy meets girl. Girl falls in love with boy. Boy leaves girl for her best friend. Happily every after.
That's how the usual clichés go, no? Story focuses on the two most important people to the Girl and their relationship with each other. It seems that the Best Friend and the Boy don't get along and hate each other, but with time slowly fall in love. Even more time passes, and their love grows. Pretty soon they're head over heels in love with each other, but can't do anything about it because they don't want to hurt the Girl.
Finally, one night the tension is so great that they have no choice but to give into their passions.
Both of course feel terrible and swear that it will never happen again. But of course, by the end of the story, their love for each other over comes everything, and alls well. The end.
Sound familiar? Of course it does. We've all heard it a million times. It's a classic. As a spectator, you can't help but feel for the Boy and the Best Friend. The unconditional love. The forbidden romance. It's every hopeless romantic's wildest fantasy.
So, ever wonder whatever happened to the Girl? We all know that the Boy and the Best Friend run off to the sunset together and live happily ever after, but what about the Girl? How does she deal with losing both her best friend and the love of her life? No one really thinks about her, or cares for that matter. Because our two main characters finally are together after all their internal struggle and are off having babies. The Girl is more like an object. Something that keeps our beloved couple apart. Therefore, the Girl's feelings and wants are never really mentioned nor addressed.
So you wonder why I bother bringing her up now? Simply because I, like you all, got seduced by this classical love story. Except, unfortunately for me, I ended up on the wrong side of this whole deal.
Simply put, I am the Girl. And this is my story following happily ever after.
