The Beast

2/4/09

Nobody should have to live like this—

Split between two worlds.

On one hand,

The need to be thinner than thin.

On the other hand,

The need to not stick out in a fat society.

Nobody should have to live like this—

Cutting back on foods they love,

Foods their bodies crave for survival.

Nobody should have to live like this—

Rib counting in mirrors

Multiple times a day,

Checking old imperfections for progress,

Looking for new imperfections,

Fearing to find any,

But knowing if you don't, you haven't looked hard enough.

Nobody should have to live like this—

Compare yourself to every woman you see,

Checking to see if you have a flatter stomach,

Smaller breasts, a more angular face—

Searching for something in a stranger that is vastly superior

To you,

And knowing that you will have to work harder to obtain that.

Nobody should have to live like this—

Walking down the streets,

Glancing in every reflective surface,

Praying that you will find someone admiring you

But knowing that if you catch someone looking,

It's only because they're judging your

Fat ass, fat thighs, fat hips, fat stomach, fat breasts, fat cheeks.

Nobody should have to live like this—

Knowing that it will never be good enough

For you, for the voice in your head, for anyone else.

The voice in your head telling you that

You can never be thin enough,

One bite is too much, will make you fatter.

You will never look like those girls in magazines

Unless you work hard harder hardest,

Starving yourself into oblivion.

Nobody should have to live like this—

Head lighter than air,

Stomach tensing with hunger cramps,

Willing yourself to cease physically existing.

Nobody should have to live like this—

With the Beast.
