Free Fall

I teeter on the edge

Of the looming skyscraper

And wonder how many before me

Have stood in my shoes

Peering over the surreal ledge

At the tangible ground below?

How many of them

Have pondered what it would be like

To fly?

To fall?

As I do now

Were there many?

Why did they do such a thing

That we are taught is wrong?

What could be worth it?

I step over the brink

And finally all is at peace

As I tumble towards the concrete Earth

The wind sweeps across my skin

And it's such a rush

Because while I flail through the air

For the first time in my life I lose all

And that's when I realized

People jumped off the edge

Because the fall is worth the collision
