March On

Don't cry
Open up your eyes and know
There's someone else out there that feels this way

Ashlee screamed. How dare her! How dare he dump her on her backside just two weeks before the prom? It was heartbreaking and Ashlee finally let it sink in. she was single. Boyfriendless, Available. She was up for grabs, and how it pained her. For just two seconds, Ashlee stopped screaming. The words of the Goods Charlotte song that was playing hit her.

I'm singing to you
Cause I know what you've been through and now
It's not so long ago I felt the same

Ashlee Mezrocozza was the most popular girl of Lakeview Alternative High. It wasn't really an alternative school, the only thing remotely 'alternative' about it was that it wasn't alternative really, but still used the word 'alternative' in the title.
Green Day blasted out of her room somewhere and Ashlee jumped at the sound of it. Groaning, she stood up and moved across the room to where her cell phone lay and checked the caller ID. Jake. What was the bastard thinking? Calling her? After taking a few deep breaths, Ashlee hit the 'Accept Call' button.
"What do you want?" Ashlee sobbed out.
"Baby," the voice of her ex-boyfriend sexily crooned out. The voice, which once turned her on, was positively dripping with practiced charm.
"Look, I don't care what you have to say, but I do know what I have to say to you. You're a bastard and I hate your guts. I'm this close to going out with Paramount's Football captain, just to piss you off. And you know what, when Jessie dumps you or whatever, don't expect me to let you come crawling back. And that's final!!" Ashlee hit the hang up button and threw the phone at the bed before sinking down to the ground with uncontrolled emotion.

(Flashback)
It had all started at school the previous week. Ashlee had walked into the lunch room earlier than usual because her Science teacher had been absent and the relief-teacher had no idea what time to let them out at, so the class led her to believe it was earlier. Ashlee's then boyfriend, Jake, had a free-period before lunch, so she expected to see him there with the rest of his football team, who all shared the same free-period.
As Ashlee walked up to the lunch-rooms doors, the footy team, who should have been inside, seemed to spring from their watchman-like positions at the door to try and make a grab for Ashlee.
"Don't go in there Ash, please don't." The co-captain, Jake being the captain, Tad pleaded with her.
"Why shouldn't I?" Ash replied
The football team just rolled their eyes at her.
"Don't blame us," they called after her.
Ashlee walked through the doors and walked the incredibly long route to her table at the other side of the massive hall. When Ash approached her table, she saw that the table as empty, except for two unrecognizable people who seemed to be about to get at it on the table. Ewwwwwww, she thought, clearing her throat. As the two surprised people shot apart, Ashlee realized that it was Jake and Jessie. Jessie… the one girl nearly more popular than her…
"Jake you shit-head" Ash had screamed at him, slapping his surprised face and running out of the lunch-room, tears streaming down her face…

I remember summer nights alone
Fireflies the only thing we own
All we ever dreams of California
I remember winters were so cold
Hunger was the only thing we know
And rock n' roll dreamin' was what saved us

There was a soft tapping at Ash's bedroom door, bringing her out of her remembrance.
"What?" She demanded, thinking it was Jake.
When Mitchell walked through her door she grimaced and hung her head back into her hands.

Mitchell was the last person Ash had expected to see. They had grown up together, their parents being best friends and everything, but there seemed to be no trace of the romance their parents wanted.
Ever since kindy, Mitchell had never stopped teasing her. Sometimes Ashlee thought that she felt more for Mitchell than hate, but it wasn't possible, he was someone she hated… hated with a passion. But maybe she had confused the emotion, it was possible.

Till we see the sun

Mitchell started down from the doorway at his long-time next-door-neighbour. Her eyes were glazed over from crying so hard. Damn, but she looked hot, even when she was a mess. Mitch teased Ash mercilessly everyday for nearly 13 years. It was only a mask, to protect his true feeling from her. He was in love with her. Ever since that day in kindy when she had poured blue paint over his head, right up till now, their senior year at Lakeview Alternative, he'd been head over heels for her. And today, he'd show her just how much she mattered to him.

Through the good times,
Through the bad times
Through the long days
Through the hard nights
Keep on till we see the sun

Ash looked up from her spot on the floor, only to find that Mitch hadn't left yet. She was about to open her mouth to tell him to go away, when Mitch walked across the room, grabbed hw arm that was flung across her pulled up knees and brought her to her feet. His eye's met hers and he lent in beside her ear and said in a whisper, "Sugar, please don't cry"

Ash took her chin in his hand. Their eyes met for a moment before he placed my lips on hers, kissing her as he had longed to do for so long. The walls faded away as they kissed, everything melting away until it was just them, in their own little world.
Ash responded to Mitchell's kisses, her body pressing against him. Thank God. This was what she had been waiting for.
Mitch felt drugged, Ashlee was kissing him back, and the kisses she was returning were driving him senseless. And not every girl was able to get him senseless from a mere kiss. Mitch ran his tongue along Ash's bottom lip and she parted her lips allowing him inside. Ash's hands were twisted in his hair pulling Mitch's face closer to hers if it was possible at this point for that to happen – it was sort of like they were super glued together by the lips and they were both loving it. It was heaven, showing her exactly how much he cared about her, just like he had envisioned for years. And that's all they needed.

The phone was ringing.
Ashlee and Mitchell ignored it and went on kissing, Mitch pushing against Ash slightly so she walk backwards with him until she was pressed lightly against the glass on one of the doors leading to the balcony, which overlooked the beach that Ash's house was built on.
Buzz buzz buzz!
They weren't going to give up were they?
Ashlee and Mitchell pulled apart slowly, each panting slightly as they turned as one to look at the phone.
"You should answer it, it's not like I'll disappear while you're on the phone." Mitch murmured to Ashlee
"Ok" she panted against his lips as she pulled away to reach for her phone that was lying on her bed. Looking at the caller ID, Ashlee hung up on the caller and turned her phone off.
Still breathless, Mitchell reached for Ashlee realizing that she wasn't going to be talking to anyone on the phone for a while.
"You know I love you, right?" Ash murmured against his lips, half an hour later, their foreheads pressed together, looking across at him from where she stood against the glass door, still breathing slightly heavier than she normally did from lack of air from his kissing skills. She wasn't used to having anyone kiss her quite like that.
"You have no god-damn idea babe." He replied
"No idea what?" Ash asked back, a flirtatious tone in her voice
"How much I love you." Mitchell replied savagely back, before kissing her back with such an effort, that Ash thought her lips might just fall off.
