A/N: I noticed on the other poems I've posted that there aren't any spaces between the stanzas. Hopefully I'll be able to fix that, and hopefully that won't happen with this one. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this poem…and review!

Throwing cigarette butts at passing trains

You can't see what's right in front of your face

You would if I could tell you

But I can't so let's keep it that way

I've got this sinking feeling

That things won't be all right

But if I hold you in my arms tonight

It just might be okay

We were both losers in our younger days

And since I left home not much has changed

Winning battles just to turn the tide

Selfish fears were kept inside

But if I hold you in my arms tonight

It just might be okay

In your too-expensive shoes you walk the streets

Looking for a better way to make ends meet

A lonely traveler passes your way

As I leave a note to tell you what I can't say

Trading places for just a moment

You realize we might not make it

But if I hold you in my arms tonight

It just might be okay

Tomorrow we may have to leave this place

Start a new life in some other state

But if I hold you in my arms tonight

It just might be okay
