Like long slimy tentacles
They snaked across the floor
To claim back what was theirs
Before the waves came to shore

Each grain of sand basked
In the sun's caressing love
Until it came to be that time
That water crashed from above

Two siblings bickering for affection
From a distant hovering presence
They claimed the sunny spot
Just to feel some warm essence

They could work in harmony
And warm each others' spirits
But while each waits for dad
They deny wanting to hear it.
