I'm sittin here on my front porch swing

Drinking beer not worried bout a thing

Just wanna, sit down and watch the world turn

Wait another day while I watch the sun burn

Chill out, relax, and find my way back

Back to the shade back to the sand

Back to younger days, playin' in a band

Back to my life, and what I had

Back when the world didn't seem so bad

Seem so bad

Now I'm older, yeah I know

I'm still young in my own way though

All I can say, is I once had brighter days

And all I want, is to hear somebody say

"Hey friend, come on over,

To a place we don't get older"

I'd go back to the same, back to school

Back to the time, I thought I was cool

Back to my life, back when I smiled

Back when it all, seemed more worthwhile

But now I can see

It won't happen to me

They say you can't go back

Everyone knows that

But what they don't say

Is if they ever had a chance that they'd

Go back to the shade, back to the sand

Back to the pool, and their mom's minivan

To chocolate chip cookies, to daytime TV

Now I know it can't just be me

Some may say youth is wasted on the young

But when have you ever had more fun?

Some grow old, some forget

But I'm not there, no, not yet

I'm still young enough to regret

The life I'd had, the life of a king

Imagination was my plaything

I sure enjoyed, the freedom I had

How could I know, the world would turn mad?
