They were high-school heroes, All-State players
Always led their teams in the Lord's Prayer
And how does their Lord, the Almighty, repay them?
He leaves them for dead on a bus in Atlanta

They say that good things happen to those who pray

You can pray all you want doesn't mean that you're safe

The same can't be said for those who are dead
But if they were lucky they'd be happy like us
Instead of wishing they weren't on that bus
