The alarm clock went off and Amanda woke up with a smile on her face. She had gone through an emotional rollercoaster over the last few weeks, but it was finally over. Or at least she hoped so. After she got dressed her cell phone rang and it was a text from Tony saying that he was on his way to her house.
Today is going to be a good day. I deserve it. Amanda told herself. Finally her relationship was not going to be a secret anymore.
"Hey," she opened the front door and greeted Tony.
"Hey, Panda," He kissed her forehead.
"Ready for school?" He questioned and walked her to his truck.
"Are you?" She replied. Her only fear was that he would take back everything that he had said to her the night before.
"As long as you're by my side I'm ready for anything." He smiled and started up his truck. She had a nice conversation with him on the drive to school. She felt like he was really her boyfriend. Once they got to school Tony jumped out of the truck and opened the passenger's side door for her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and they walked across the school parking lot together.
"People are staring." She muttered looking at all the people staring at her. For her being with Tony was nothing new, but it was for the rest of the school. Everyone looked surprised to see them together.
"What did you expect?" He shrugged acting like the staring didn't bother him.
"I don't know, but not open staring." She muttered and tried not to look people in the eyes. If it weren't for Tony's arm around her waist she would have felt super uncomfortable.
"Well, we should give them something to stare at." He grinned down at her and gave her a hard kiss.
"Tony!" She laughed and pulled away.
"You know you like it." He winked and she saw people were gasping at them. She felt her cheeks grow warm.
"See you at lunch." He told her once they made it to her first class.
"You don't have to have lunch with me." She told him quietly. She was starting to feel uneasy like she was making him do things he didn't want to do.
"I want to be with you," he smiled and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.
"See you later," she smiled and watched him disappear into a crowd of people. It is so nice to be able to walk the hallways with Tony.
"I'm so lost," she heard a voice from behind her.
"Hey, Chelsea," she spun around to see Chelsea leaning against a locker.
"I thought you went on a date with Corey." Chelsea questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"I did," Amanda nodded.
"Then how come you are walking down the hallway holding Tony's hand? Does it have something to do with the fact that Corey is walking around with a broken nose?" Chelsea asked. At Corey's name her heart started to race faster. Thank god Tony was there or it could have been so much worst. I don't know what I was thinking agreeing to go out on a date with him.
"Let's just say I won't be going on anymore dates with Corey." She stated honestly not wanting to go into details with Chelsea.
"Did Tony apologize for being a jerk?" Chelsea asked seriously.
"He did," she smiled.
"Well, I'm glad he finally came to his senses. If he hurts you again he will be the one walking around with a broken nose." Chelsea replied and they both started laughing.
Amanda walked out of her first class surprised to see Tony standing next to the door frame.
"Hey, beautiful," he gave her a wink and students looked at him curiously as they passed by.
"You two are sickly cute together." Chelsea rolled her eyes as Tony gave Amanda a hug. Chelsea waved to them as she walked down the hallway to her next class.
"What are you doing here?" She asked and they started walking through the hallway.
"Walking my girlfriend to her class," he smiled with a shrug like he did it all the time.
"Oh, no," she stopped when she saw who was coming down the hall straight at them. Corey had a pissed look on his face and his nose was covered in a bandage. Amanda bit her lip so she didn't laugh at how ridiculous he looked. A few of Tony's teammates were behind him, including Vince.
"Stand back," Tony told her, but she stayed by his side.
"You think you're so tough?" Corey glared at Tony and a few people in the hallway stopped to see what was going on.
"Damn, Tony you broke his nose over a girl." Vince shook his head in disgust and looked over at Amanda.
"He deserved it," Tony said bluntly.
"Dude, you are going to be lucky if the coach doesn't kick you off the team." Another one of his teammates said with concern.
"He isn't going to kick Tony off the team," Amanda couldn't help but speak up.
"How do you know?" Vince shot her another glare.
"Because then Corey is going to have to explain why Tony gave him a broken nose." She stated and waited for Corey's reaction. A few of the teammates behind him looked surprised like they never really considered the reason Tony broke Corey's nose in the first place.
"You little bitch," Corey sneered at her and took a step closer to them.
"Don't make a scene because then you will be the one off the team." Tony announced loudly and Corey looked around to see how many people stopped to look at them. Corey flicked them off and stormed down the hallway with the rest of his teammates. After a few seconds the crowd around Amanda and Tony started to disperse.
"Wow, your friends really are jerks! Why do you hang out with them?" She asked him.
"Believe me I've been asking myself the same question." He sighed shaking his head.
" I didn't want our relationship out in the open because I didn't want you to have to endure their stupidity." He explained as they got closer to Amanda's next class.
"I can handle them," she replied.
"In the end I guess I was just the stupid one." He admitted.
"All in the past," she smiled giving him a quick kiss and he grabbed her before she pulled away.
"I love you. I'm going to take you somewhere special tonight." He said wrapping his arm around her.
"Where?" She asked looking up at him.
"It's a secret," he grinned.
"More secrets," she rolled her eyes and pulled away from his embrace.
"This is a good secret." His grin grew.
"You truly don't know where he is taking you?" Chelsea asked Amanda through the phone. Amanda was sitting on her bed talking to Chelsea while she waited for Tony to pick her up. I can't believe I'm finally going on a real date somewhere with Tony.
"Nope, it's a secret." She sighed.
"That boy and secrets," Chelsea laughed and Amanda knew she was probably shaking her head on the other line.
"What are you wearing?" Chelsea questioned.
"That black dress I bought at the mall last week." She replied looking at the halter top black dress in the mirror. She had straightened her hair and had a black flower hairpiece in it.
"Good choice," Chelsea approved.
"Amanda, a boy is here for you!" Her mom yelled from downstairs.
"I've got to go, Tony is here." She told Chelsea.
"Have fun! Tell me all about it tomorrow." Chelsea said.
"Will do," she hung up the phone with a huge smile on her face.
Amanda walked down the stairs and saw Tony talking to her mother. Tony must have said something funny because her mom was laughing. It's nice to be able to introduce Tony to my parents.
"You two have fun," Amanda's mom waved to them as they stepped off the front porch.
"Don't be back too late," she heard her father add.
"I will have her back before nine." Tony called back.
"Ten," she countered.
"Ten it is," Tony laughed.
"You look nice, I don't think I have ever seen you in a tie before." She stated once they got into his truck. He was wearing a button down shirt and matching tie.
"I had to dig it out of the bottom of my dresser." He laughed pulling on his tie.
"This one is for you." He showed her a dark blue tie in his hand. Why do I need a tie? Amanda gave him a confused look and he placed it over her face. He tied it around her head, so she couldn't see anything.
"What? I can't know or see where we are going. You don't play fair." She pouted and heard the truck start with a rumble.
"I know, haven't you seen me on the court?" He laughed and she imagined him giving her a wink, not that she could see it anyway. She tried to pay attention to his turned, but got mixed up and then gave up trying altogether.
"You stopped," she mumbled when the truck stop. He didn't drive very far and she wasn't sure where he had taken her.
"We are here. No, you can't take it off yet." He said when she motioned to the tie. She stayed in the truck as he went around to the passenger's side. He opened the door and helped her out of the truck. He took her hand and guided her.
"I have a new respect for blind people." She mumbled feeling the uneven earth below her.
"Watch your step you almost went off a cliff." He told her.
"What?" She yelled and stopped dead in her tracks. A cliff? Where the hell am I?
"Just joking," he laughed and she sighed. She blindly tried to take a swat at him for faking her out like that.
"Okay, you can take off the tie." He said and helped her take off the tie. Amanda gasped at the sight in front of her and knew right away that she was at Winterford Park. A white table cloth covered the picnic table and Chinese lanterns were hanging from the trees near the table. Candles were lit on the table next to a big vase of pink tulips. A delicious smell was also coming from the table.
"I hope you're not disappointed. I can take you to a fancy restaurant next time." He told her.
"This is perfect. I love it!" She smiled and hugged him tightly.
"When you broke up with me I went here a lot to think." He admitted. She thought about the time she drove here and saw him playing basketball.
"You did this all on your own?" She asked walking over to the table.
"Actually Matt helped," Tony confessed.
"Matt, really?" She asked surprised with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah, he is actually a nice guy." He spoke so quietly she thought she had imagined that statement at first.
"See I knew you would like him." She smiled.
"In fact it validates my reason for not liking him. I don't need him stealing you away from me." He said with a weak smile on his face.
"No one is stealing me away." She stood on her tip toes and kissed him lightly.
"They better not or they will end up with a broken nose." He laughed and wrapped his arms around her. He pressed her tightly against his chest and didn't want to let go.
"I love you, Amanda." He whispered resting his chin on the top of her head.
"I love you too." She looked up at him. He bent his head and gave her a long hard kiss.
