Empty Expectations

Her wrist watch ticks

keeping time

The summer breeze

sounds the chimes

He's late again

not that she expects

anything else

Why last time

he didn't even

show at all.

The lights from the

window are

soft as she sits

on the porch

gently rocking

the swing

back and forth

back again

Still the drive

is empty.

She thinks back

to mistakes

mistakes now

never then

She thinks of

how disappointed

Seph will be -

that he didn't come

She stares at the

empty drive.
