She gripped his shirt; if she let go, she would clearly plummet to her death. Her lips pushed against his with such force, removing them would cut off her life source. The world melted away, leaving only the sound of their synchronized breathing. Leaning back slightly, her arm grazed the steering wheel. A sudden burst of noise startled her and she released him. Unbalanced by this unexpected action, he fell into the car door.

Both of them chuckled, amused by each other's embarrassment. As he resumed his original spot in his seat, their eyes locked. Light hearted laughter was replaced by somber silence. She stared into his eyes, memorizing every line of color in his irises, palpable desperation obvious in her expression.

His thoughts were more veiled. Upon first glance, he appeared almost indifferent to her affections. However, his hand slightly pressed against her knee and the small smile that emerged as she reached to touch his face, indicated his true feelings. Suddenly, she removed her hand from him; his smile evaporated. She looked painfully at her watch.

"You have to go?" he questioned without any detectable emotion.

"I was supposed to leave ten minutes ago," she replied playfully.

Once again, quietness filled the car, occupying every open inch of the air. She craved something more from him. She needed him to break the silence. To reveal a piece of himself.

Maybe because she had to get home or maybe because she realized he never would, she finally spoke, "So… I guess I should get going then."

"I guess."

"I'll miss you," she told him, placing his hand around hers.

"I know."

She sighed, fully expecting this answer, but hoping for something more. When nothing came, she kissed him. She intended to make it quick, to shortchange him like he had her, but he drew her in, as always. Finally, she pulled away, allowing him to climb out of her car.

Unable to watch, she turned forward in her seat to put on her seatbelt. The tears that were building finally started to make their way to her eyes. Her emotions overwhelmed her, making it seemingly impossible to buckle her seatbelt. Feeling like a child, she dedicated all her attention to this simple task.

Suddenly, she felt something on her arm. Moving away from the windowsill, she turned her head. There he was. Quickly, she wiped away her tears and asked, "Did you forget something?"

He looked at her for a moment, seemingly unsure of the answer. Rather than responding, he took a piece of her hair, gently running his hand through it. It remained entwined in his fingers as he kissed her lightly on the cheek. Releasing her hair, he took a hesitant step towards his own car before stopping. She looked at, him uncertain about what to expect next.

"I'll miss you, too."

A/N: Let me know what you think! It's my first longer piece of fiction... any constructive criticism is insanely appreciated. Also, I'm kinda thinking of making this into an actual story about their relationshp or maybe little short stories about the relationship meaning no plot, more snapshots of it. Let me know what you think of that as well please!
