A/N: Okay! I need help here! I'm supposed to write a story for some editorial stuff and the word limit's around 700++. I can't write short stories so I'm wondering if you guys (who think this is good) can give me suggestions as to where I can shorten and get rid of 300 words I'd be totally thankful to! This is already a condensed version.
Yes yes, I know I suck. xD
Don't comment on the plot okay? It's a really senseless plot.
But please help??
The door to a run down and abandoned mansion burst open with a loud sharp creak. Dust flew up from the rotten wooden floor and rats scampered around. Maverick slammed the door behind him and smiled with warmth in his heart at the sight of his ghastly looking 'son'.
Darius was a vampire fledgling – a cannibalistic deformed human with animalistic features. They have eyes like a snake, body like an ape with a reptile's tail. Their skin was cold, scaly and grey while their mouth hangs open with two protruding fangs. They have two tiny holes as a nose and hooves for feet. Monstrous, yes, but perfect to rip humans apart. Nevertheless, after devouring 300 humans' flesh, they would turn into beautiful creatures of the dark and Maverick knew that Darius would make a splendid matured vampire.
"I've brought you food." Maverick gestured towards the already stirring humans.
"I told you not to bring me food anymore." He whispered in his toad-like voice, walking away.
"Oh don't be a saint! You haven't eaten for a week!" It baffled him as to how Darius could still control his hunger.
Through gritted teeth and head bent low, Darius choked out, "I-I'm not a beast like you…"
Maverick stared at him in disbelief and threw his hands up in the air. "Okay, you know what? This righteous nonsense has to end." Suddenly enraged and exasperated, Maverick pulled a woman by her hair, ignoring her futile struggles. "My blood is already running in your veins and there's no turning back. Don't be foolish, my child! You are a vampire! Face it, live with it – for goodness sake!" Fury continued to escalate and he turned to her, smiling. "Rest in peace." And with unimaginable strength, he ripped her head off.
Hot, thick sweet iron smelling blood spurted everywhere and formed a pool where the headless corpse lay. Maverick flung the head by its hair towards Darius and it landed with a loud hard thump. Darius fell to his knees as the head rolled towards him with eyes and mouth still wide opened. She did not even have time to complete her final scream. "Why did you do this, Maverick! I told you that I'm done with your games!"
"Well that's too bad isn't it?" Maverick snapped. When Darius did not move, Maverick turned to the closest man behind him and caught him by his throat. The man whimpered and shook his head, pleading for his life but the vampire just laughed. "Don't worry, I just want your eyes." Plunging his fingers into the man's eye socket, Maverick curled his fingers and dug an eye out. He brought it to his lips and licked it clean. "This would taste so good, Darius. A bit hard on the outside but soft and squishy on the inside. Here, take it!"
Darius caught the eyeball in his hands and quietly stared at it. Already, he could feel it – the savaged uncontrollable lust for human flesh and blood that he had tried to suppress all these while surfacing. He could almost taste the wondrous slimy round eyeball in his mouth. Before he realized it, fingers were thrown at him, his head whipped around to stare at Maverick with his messy blonde hair shining like the sun, black fathomless eyes with smooth white skin, and soft red lips plucking fingers off a human hand like flowers. "You know, if you're not going to eat them, they'd go to waste and left there to rot while maggots crawl through them." Maverick pointed out, finally letting go of what was once a hand.
Maverick's right! A voice whispered urgently inside his head. Confusion and sheer cannibalistic hunger clouded his eyes and he licked his lips in anticipation. With shaking hands, he popped the eyeball into his mouth and started chewing slowly, enjoying the squishy texture and the soft squirting of liquid into his mouth. When the final bits were gone, he quickly grabbed the head and with his nails, tore the skin away before smashing it with all his might on the cement wall. Bits and pieces of the skull flew everywhere revealing the brain. Saliva dripped from his fangs as he savored the smell and looks of it.
Maverick watched contentedly as Darius went on a killing rampage. It was beautiful how the blood squirted, splattered and gushed out like a red fountain. Darius was in his own little world where no one existed except himself and delicious tasting young hot-blooded humans.
When the very last bit of flesh was gone and all that was left was puddles of blood, Darius dropped limply in exhaustion. A sharp glow surrounded him as he began clawing and panting, biting down a scream from the piercing pain. Maverick knelt beside him and wiped the sweat away from his forehead. It was magical to see an ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan. When the glow faded, the hideous creature was no longer there. Instead, it was a naked man-like creature, with soft brown long hair, delicate red lips and satin smooth skin. His body was lean and muscular in all the right places and size with long legs, hands and fingers. When Darius finally opened his eyes, they were sparkling emerald.
"How do you feel?"
"Aching but great."
"Congratulations. Told you they would taste great."
"Shut up." Darius laughed softly and stopped from the pain in his chest.
"Rest. It takes time for your mind to get used to your new form. I hope you'd listen to me next time and stop being a saint."
"I really do hate you and we'll see…" He closed his eyes again and trailed off into a deep slumber. Maverick chuckled and answered, "I really do love you too."
A/N: Like it hate it, I don't care! (nah... I'm just lying. haha). Please review and tell me if there's anything that shouldn't be in here! Thank you!
PS: As for the plot... I can say that if I were to send a message, it would be that we are what we are, there's no running from it no matter how bad it is. And also, vampires should be cruel and blood thirsty, not romantic and sweet
