Five years later.
Hayden led me though the dark hallway. We were back at the hall where we had gone to the Christmas dance five years before. Walking through the dark wasn't as scary as it was the first time since I knew where the hallway led to. When I heard the doorknob turn I stepped through with Hayden. We walked up the gazebo stairs together. Soft music was playing like the first time Hayden had walked me back here.
"Remember when we danced here? The whole time I was thinking about how much I loved you and it was such a strange feeling to me." I said. Hayden wrapped his arms around me and we swayed to the music. "A few minutes later, you knew how I felt and look where we are today."
"My favorite part of the night was when I overheard you talking to Brooke about how you loved me. I wasn't supposed to hear but I'm so glad I did. If I hadn't, we might not be where we are today." He twirled me around then pulled me close to his chest.
"I've loved you for the past nine years of my life; four of which you never even knew how I felt. Every time I see you I can't help but smile. Every time I hear your name, I can't help but think, 'I love her'. I brought you back here tonight because in this very building is where we really started our life together. It's where we professed our love to each other. It's the place that I want us to remember for the rest of our lives. Erica, love," Hayden got down on one knee. Oh my god. "Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" He pulled a box out of his jacket pocket and opened it. A beautiful diamond ring glistened in the lights.
"Yes Hayden! Most definitely yes!" He slipped the ring on my finger. It was a perfect fit. "I love you! I love you so much!" Hayden stood up and grabbed me around the waist twirling me around the room. He put me down and pulled me into a long and passionate kiss.
Well that's it. Short and sweet. ;)
