This is probably the shortest chapter ever! I just had to finish what I started though. I'm sure most of you are totally over it but I had to give you the ending you were requesting.

Chapter 13

Kacy saw the fear in Nate's eyes when he looked back at her for a moment. She had her hand on the door, ready to leave. The look he gave her stopped her in her tracks. He put a hand to her chest and attempted to push her back inside.

She grabbed for him. "He's out there! Please come in the room. You'll be safe."

He looked at her sternly, as he gave a final push, standing his ground.

He unholstered his gun as he turned the corner. His eyes caught the eyes of the figure as soon as the light hit them. Nate had never been so happy to see his father in his life.

His father was all business as usual, "I understand how you feel about this woman, but on Monday, you will resign from law enforcement."

Having heard Nate's father voice, Kacy opened the door and ran into Nate's embrace. They held onto each other for a few seconds before parting to look at each other.

Kacy spoke first, tears in her eyes. "I'm so in love with you, and I'm sorry for everything."

"I'm sorry too. I'm so glad you're alright. Let's get you out of here."

The two linked hands as they walked towards the door and back to safety.
