Chapter 3
I couldn't talk, I was shocked, and I didn't want to believe what I was hearing. How can a guy, whom I barely know, love me? And did he say eternal life?
"Indeed, I did say my eternal life."
"How did you know what I was thinking?"
He sighed and said "I think it's time for you to know who I really am."
He was quiet for a few seconds; perhaps, he was waiting for me to say something, when I didn't say anything he went on. "I'm not human, I live in darkness and I feed off human blood. I'm the monster of myths, the nightmare kids are scare of. You might have an idea of my true nature."
My body went numb; I couldn't believe it. A vampire? My stalker was a vampire? And that's when everything made sense: His paleness, his ability to see in the dark, and his skill to read minds. God knows, what else he was able to do.
"I'm faster and stronger than humans. I'm also immortal, I can't age."
"Take me home, please." It was way too much for me to take in.
"It certainly is, and I'm sorry I should've told you when you were calmer, but I don't want to have any secret between us."
"I-I…." I couldn't finish my sentence, and everything went dark after that.
I woke up, after fainting, and I noticed I was lying down on my bed; everything was engulfed in darkness, except for the moonlight that was shining through my window. My vampire stalker was lying next to me; his arm around my body, while watching me, painstakingly.
"How are you feeling, love?"
"I'm fine, but what happened? The last thing I remember is you telling you're a….a…..vampire." It was hard getting that word out of my system, but I said it, at the end.
"Well, after you fainted, I brought you back home and made sure nothing was wrong with you and, don't worry, your parents didn't even know you were gone, you were supposedly asleep after a long stressful day." He kissed my forehead, after he was done talking.
"What's your name? I figured, if we're going to be lovers, you might as well tell me your name."
He smiled triumphantly. "So, you accept the idea of being my lover, for eternity?"
I took his hand and started playing with his fingers. "Yes, I want to be with you forever." I smiled, and planted a light kiss on his cheek.
"I thought you'd never say that. I love you, Emma." He said, while taking my face between his hands and starting kissing me passionately.
"You still haven't told me your name, but you know mine." I pouted.
"Aedan, that's my name, and I was born in the 14th century-France. I was turned into a vampire, when I was 19 years old, by a young man, named Karl. Now, can we please change the subject? I don't like reminiscing about my past; there are too many painful memories I have to live with, every single day of my existence."
"I'm sorry; I didn't mean to bring up the past." I said, ashamed of my indiscretion.
"It's okay, love, I told you there wasn't going to be secrets between the two of us." Aedan, whispered softly in my ear.
"So, do you drink human blood or animal blood?" I asked him, curiously.
He smiled at my question. "Now you want to know about vampires, uh?
"Well, yeah, believe it or not, I used to have a sick obsession with vampires, witches, and werewolves."
"Ok, that's not hard to believe, since you didn't react so badly when I told you of my true nature."
"I fainted, isn't that bad enough?" I asked.
"I don't blame you; it was way too much for you to take in. Ok, now answering your question, I do drink human blood, but I don't kill the person I'm drinking for, I don't want to turn into a savage beast." His eyes were, suddenly, filled with ancient sadness.
I touched his cheek softly and said, "You're not a beast, you're the nicest and most loving boy I've ever met, and I'm pretty sure you're trying to get your humanity back. See, you're not bad, and it's not your fault you have to drink blood to survive."
He just looked at me, without saying anything, and kissed me several times on the mouth. I love being with him and a day hasn't passed since I first met him. I was one-hundred percent sure that Aedan was my other half, my soul mate.
"Yes, love; I am your soul mate. It took you quite a while to realize it." He laughed at his own joke.
I blushed and almost forgot that he was able to read minds. I wonder what other super vampire powers he possesses? I thought.
"I'm just a mind-reader, but I'm learning how to control fire, you know the power of pyrokinesis." He chuckled.
"You see vampires have different abilities or gifts, as we like to call them. Some vampires can move objects with their minds, others can control darkness, and in rare occasions a vampire or two have control over all five elements: fire, water, earth, wind, and spirit." I listened carefully at his explanation of 'superpowers.'
"Can you go out in the sunlight?" I asked excitedly.
"Yes, but sunlight weakens me, and sometimes I can't stand it, that is why we would rather go out at night, when we're stronger."
"Oh." Was all I could manage to say, I was feeling kind of sleepy and Aedan seemed to notice that.
"Why don't you try to go to sleep?" You must be tired and you have to wake up early, tomorrow morning."
I groaned. "I forgot I have to go to school tomorrow. I haven't gotten used to the idea that summer is over."
He just smiled and stayed silent for a couple of minutes, but I managed to break the silence by asking him one last question: "Are you coming again, tomorrow?"
"Of course, now that I know you love and want to spend eternity with me, I wouldn't miss a day without seeing you." He kissed me one last time and hugged me tightly.
"Goodnight, my love." He whispered softly.
"Goodnight, Aedan." I smiled and fell into a deep sleep.
