Monster Inside Me

I've got a monster in me that comes out every now and then,

Can't figure out or predict at who, what, how or when.

A monster that is mistaken,

A monster that runs away shaken.

A monster just for being different,

A monster that just wants to repent,

Hated just for being strange,

And now I'm hoping for the world to change.

---

I can be the monster that lives in your closet,

The one in your nightmares and the one that caused it.

I can be the monster that saves the town from the bad,

The one like the hero that you never had.

A monster that's hiding underneath your bed,

A monster that lives up there inside of your head.

---

I just want to live and be free,

Live in a world where it won't hurt to be me.

A monster emerges and you think that's a bad thing,

But you have no idea of the things that I can bring.

I can make the pain go far away,

I can make the sun shine on a cloudy day.

Still you look down on me because I am strange,

And now I'm asking for the world to change.

---

I can be the monster that lives in your closet,

The one in your nightmares and the one that caused it.

I can be the monster that saves the town from the bad,

The one like the hero that you never had.

A monster that's hiding underneath your bed,

A monster that lives up there inside of your head.

---

Pushed to the edge, I've been there and back,

Always on the run now I'm forced on the attack..

Driven mad with hate and rage,

Feeling like an animal in a cage.

Backed up in a corner and it all comes out,

Enemies slaughtered before they can even shout.

Blood on my hands and empty of all my rage,

And now I'm waiting for the world to change.
