Takuto looked around the new setting. The only thing that seemed normal was the scenery. The school building was of ordinary architecture and the outside decorations seemed befitting. The sky was blue and the grass was green, but a few of the people standing around him were blue and green as well, along with a verity of other colors.

They were not the normal ones. A good percentage of the students gathered at the front of the school were a color sooner found on a Van Go painting than someone's skin. Some of the students had strange animalistic features and others had still stranger features. One boy, who stood nearing eight feet tall, was bending over to chat with his friends, who stood only three feet from the ground though he had four legs to stand on. One of the blue colored students was sitting reading a book, but what he sat upon was only the air. Landing right in front of Takuto was another student who had just flown into the school grounds by way of the large leathery wings on his back.

Looking around, there was only a scattered few who passed for what Takuto called 'normal'. To them, looking like Takuto was 'odd'. Attempting not to give the hint that he was staring at anyone, Takuto kept his eyes on the ground and headed towards the foreboding door.

Only a month ago, Takuto had received a letter accepting him into a school he had never heard of let alone applied for. It offered him a free, high-quality education that provided food and board. His parents jumped at the chance. The opportunity was too good to pass up. Way too good for Takuto's liking.

Only a couple weeks into his junior year at his local high school, he was shipped off miles away to the edge of nowhere. His girl friend had broken up with him before he left, and though he was frustrated by the situation, the girl's loss meant little to him. He didn't like her too much anyway. But this was an all boy school, which troubled him. Takuto could give up the girl he'd had if he still had the opportunity of getting another one.

It was hopeless.

He had been briefed on the situation before arriving so he was as prepared as he could have been to see his strange new classmates. This school was a place for the 'out of the ordinary' to get an education, meet friends equally strange, and find careers to meet their special 'talents'.

Needless to say, Takuto was at a loss to why he was here. All these years he had lived an agreeable and normal life. He didn't look weird nor did he do anything that was considered 'special'. He had average grades, and though he was good at sports he didn't have Olympics potential.

Why him?

After checking in at the main building, Takuto headed for his room. There were two boys per room and Takuto prayed for a somewhat normal roommate. He didn't have much hope.

He found his door and heard rustling inside. His roommate was here. Timidly, he reached for the door handle.

He hesitated.

The students he'd seen had all looked relatively human, but what if his roommate was… well…

Takuto tried to force a gruesome blob creature out of his imagination before he twisted the handle. He swung the door open before he could stop himself and saw his future bunkmate. In that instant he had forgotten blob-man forever.
