Just Another Night For Mother Nature

The night outside, trying to keep quiet
Soft pitter-patter dropping down
Branches bend and wrestle around
Toward the mound they lay on
Grounding electricity
From the excited sky

The wetness bathes the earth
Drenching it in warmth
To make it writhe alive
Rooting up buds and bulbs
The dirt burrowed to make room
For all the life yet to work its way
Up, up through the moss and grit
Pushing against the tight, narrow plane
Gasping hard for air
Until it reaches the apex of the crust
Bursting through, demanding
The burning sun
The exhalation of joy over life
The cool, calming air

And morning comes
With drops of dew
