Maybe

Here I am and you're there,
Fragile hearts, so close to tear.
It's a great distance, that's for sure;
But it's something I'm willing to endure.

Because maybe
You're special to me.

We have arguments every other day,
The message delivered, its meaning, delayed.
Comprehension is lacking in my part,
But that change is about to start.

Because maybe
You're special to me.

Silence sets and no words are spoken,
For days it will go, our voices broken.
But then you'll say something, even so brief,
And my heart fills with overwhelming relief.

Because maybe
You're special to me.

And then we'll laugh, enjoy,
Say sweet nothings, our words coy.
We'll talk of whatever comes to mind;
And our stresses just unwind.

Because maybe
You're special to me.

We'll have late night conversations,
The things we say spoken with no hesitations.
Heavy eyes and long sighs I'll defy
Never wanting to say good bye.

Because maybe
You're special to me.

Perhaps I should get off this rollercoaster ride.
But that'll just tear me up inside.
I'm stuck, glued to my seat;
Getting off would make me feel incomplete.

Because definitely
You're special to me.
