Hey, Soul Sister, Train
Hey soul sister,
Ain't that mister mister
On the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know
Hey soul sister,
I don't wanna miss
A single thing you do tonight
Just in time,
I'm so glad you have
A one track mind like me
You gave my life direction
A game show love connection
We can't deny
Ashton's phone went off at around 9 am. We must have fallen asleep sometime in the wee morning.
"Hello?" His voice was still low and husky as he stretched carefully. "Yeah. They're with me."
I studied him as he talked. Ashton was one of those lucky people on earth who woke up looking even better than before. Him hair was perfectly untidy, and his eyes were a little bloodshot. His white Armani shirt was wrinkled at all the right places and his tie hung loosely around his neck. We had talked for hours last night while Nate and Angela slept. Ohkay, there was more than talking happening, but you get the point.
"I know where that is…..um-hum…..maybe 15 minutes?....sure….see ya." Ashton pocket his phone. "Camilla and the others are having breakfast at Joaquin's. Come on." He dropped a kiss on my head and went to wake up Nate and Angela.
Camilla and the others sat at the largest table available at Joaquin's. Plates of pancakes, sausages, eggs, and of 'Corse salad for the ladies filled the table. Astrid, Landon, Carter, and Angelica were the only one's not there.
"Where's Carter?" Ashton asked.
"Carter and Angelica got along pretty well, if you know what I mean." Camilla snickered. "They're at the Plaza. So is your little brother and Astrid."
"Slut," Bridget coughed. Camilla rolled her eyes, grinning.
"They're meeting us in the limo in two hours." Gabe looked pretty hung over himself.
The ride back to school was quiet. Soft music played in the background. Most people were tired and sleepy. I was slowly drifting off, leaning into Ashton was he talked with Carter and Gabe. My phone vibrated and I pulled it out sluggishly. It was a text from Camilla.
C: How'd it go last night?
Hum….how had it gone. Well, very well. I looked by and caught Camilla's eye from the front of the limo. Her and Bridget were sipping Avian.
S: Hung out, talked.
I rubbed my eyes, settling down again. buzzzzzz
C: Don't bullshit me. Come on, we wanna know. You're a Lancaster girl, so spill xxx
I looked back at Camilla. Bridget widened her eyes at me meaningfully.
S: I'm not bullshitting anybody. Now go away so I can sleep.
Buzzzzzzz.
C: Not so fast chica. We just want to know what happened last night.
Oh. My. God. I am going to kill that girl.
S: What do you want to know then
"Covington, what are you doing?" Ashton asked. He shifted me to get more comfortable. "Who're you texting?"
"Camilla," I showed him the text.
"figures." He sighed. Buzzzzz.
C: How was it? ;)
Why? Why me?
S: No no. None of that went down last night. Like I said, we talked a lot. And made out. A lot.
"What are you gonna tell her?" Ashton asked.
"Dunno. What should I tell her?" I shrugged.
"That you're my new girlfriend." He grinned .
"You can't just assume things like that Ashton," I chided. "especially since I don't recall you-"
"Will you, Sienna Covington, be my girlfriend?" He widened his baby blues, faking nervousness. I couldn't help laughing.
"Yes. That's better."
"Good." He gave me a soft kiss on the lips, smiling fondly. Buzzzzz.
C: I called that. Bridget thought you did. Astrid totally did, the slut. You can tell. She looks like shit this morning, but then she always looks like shit. Why is she even with us anyways? So like, you and Ash, then?
So rude, but so true.
S: Astrid is Dickhead Davenport's date, remember? That's why she's here. Yeah, me and Ashton.
I studied Astrid. I didn't know how Camilla and Bridget could tell she had sex last night. She looked the same to me: annoyingly blonde and petite. Buzzzzz.
C: Ohh yea, I heard you and Landon had an argument at the dance? What's up? Damn Astrid. I don't know how the hell she got in. Last year's seniors must have ran out of girls or something.
Astrid wasn't really that bad. As much as I hated to admit, she was a Lancaster girl. A shitty one.
S: Dickhead has problems. Astrid does too. They're perfect for each other. What happened to the guy at that club?
She hasn't mentioned him this morning. Hum, I wonder what happened. Buzzzz.
C: Have his number for whenever I go back to the city.
S: Nice :)
The 2nd semester started the very next week. The seniors were also starting to get letters back from colleges. Bridget was first, with an acceptance to Florida. She seemed more excited to put on a Gator jersey than the actual school. Camilla had applied to college in several sunny places. She was accepted in San Diego as well, but chose Florida with Bridget.
Carter was going to start a new band and moving full time to LA. Gabe got into UVA, Cornell, and Duke on Lacrosse. Ashton also got accepted at Brown, Cornell, and Duke on Lacrosse. It suddenly made me wonder how things would be next year. Ashton and I were really happy right now, but what happens next year when he's at college, and I'm, well, here?
February crept up and soon it would be Valentine's Day.
"What are you and Ashton doing on Saturday?" Angela asked at breakfast.
"I'm not sure yet. Anything, as long as it's not a double date with Dickface. "
Angela gave me long look. I glared back at her. Landon and I haven't really talked since we got back on campus. I see him in the Cave during meals, and sometimes around Lancaster with Astrid. He was ignoring me for no logical reason, and now I was pissed, too.
"Enough about me, what are you and Nate up to?" Angela blushed like there was no tomorrow.
"Um, we're just going out for dinner, I think." Going out for dinner?
"God, Ang, I envy you. You and Nate are such good friends. Your love is so simple-" Angela spluttered, almost coughing up her OJ. I glanced at her out of the corner of my eye. "What? Puh-lease! Don't deny it. You love Nate, Nate loves you, and you guys should just get married and live happily ever after."
Okay, maybe I was being a little harsh there, but it was so true. Nate and Angela were so good for each other that it was really bugging me. My insecurities were suddenly coming out. Why does Ashton Davenport, the most sought after guy on the east coast like me, Sienna? I felt suddenly way out of my league.
Friday's classes were unbearable and long. I just wanted to go back to Lancaster and maybe take a nice bubble bath and then go to bed. I was still not entirely use to the Antarctic weather yet. It wasn't snowing or raining, but the days were always gray and cold. The whole thing was just bringing me down and making me tired.
My last class of the day couldn't have come sooner. I trudged out of the science hall to find Ashton, leaning against one of the large Corinthian columns that kept the roof up. He had this headphones in, head tilted up towards the unsurprising gray sky. Just the sight of it made me smile.
He looked down, almost sensing my presence. An easy smile broke over his face as he tugged the headphones out and stuffed them into the pocket of his $200 jeans.
"Hey!" He took the last few steps and swept me up in a hug and a long kiss. I was laughing by the time he put me down.
"You didn't tell me you would be here," I scolded jokingly as we walked arm in arm towards the houses. "Didn't you have class?"
"Seniors get the afternoons off on Fridays second semester," He grinned, lacing our fingers together.
"Lucky," I sighed.
"So, tomorrow night. I'm taking you out to dinner…"
"…and?" I asked.
"I'll pick you up at 7. We're going off campus, dress fancy."
"Are you going to tell me where we're going?"
"Nope." He shrugged. "Secret. "
Great.
I decided after deliberation to go with a little red dress instead of a little black one. Ashton picked me up promptly at 7 in a smaller limo. The restaurant was pretty damn posh, and Ashton had booked us a table in the back. The whole place was decorated a soft pink for Valentine's Day. Flowers and candles decorated the tables and walls.
"You match the room," Ashton grinned, holding my hands over the table. I blushed, rolling my eyes. But something was bugging me still.
"Hey, Ashton. Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure gorgeous," He leaned forwards.
"Why do you like me?"
"Why do I like you?" He repeated.
"Ash, I'm serious!" I complained.
"Okay! Okay." His face became serious. "I like you because you're real. In my world, where everything's so fast paced, you slow it down. You keep me grounded and sane. I love the way you tell it like it is, and have no filtering system. I love your sarcasm comments and your smile. You've got the brains and the looks. What's not to like about Sienna Covington? "
"Oh god, stop." I was suddenly sorry I asked. "You're making me blush."
[A/N]: I think I'm breaking them up soon. You guys would be relived, because everybody HATES Ashton. Seriously, I only got like two people who support him at all! And I got a LOT of hate mail. =P Of course, that does NOT mean that Sienna and Landon are going to live happily ever after, if they get together at all. Humm…how should they break up?? My evil planning begins. How did you and your boyfriend break up? I was going to write more, then break this up into two episodes, but then I hit writer's block. failll :/
