I bundled my stuff into the back of the car, slamming the lid of the truck down when it was full. Chloe leant out of the window on the passenger side, grinning at me. "You almost ready?"

"Two minutes." I called, mentally running through the items I had packed, making sure I had what I needed. She leant back, slipping a CD into the player. I couldn't help roll my eyes as Take That blasted from the car, following me as I trekked back up to the hospital.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Daniel asked, as I met him at the doorway.

"Sure." I nodded. "Why not? I can help others Daniel. I can make sure there aren't other kids like Rebecca out there."

He frowned, following me as I wound my way through the corridors, making my way back up to the ward. "I didn't mean you leaving Mercy." He sighed, shaking his head. "I meant...you think it's a good idea to take her with you?"

I whirled around to face him, shrugging as I did so. "Hey, I'm not the one who made me her legal guardian, am I?" I turned back around, started walking once more. "I'm doing what I think is best for her, Daniel, and that does not include staying here."

He followed me again as I made my way to the ward where she was staying. I opened the curtains, smiling as I saw her putting a few items in a small bag. She picked it up and turned to me, reflecting my smile on her own young features.

"Ready?"

She nodded eagerly, reaching out and taking my hand. Gently I squeezed, before pulling her with me away from the ward and towards the car instead.

The three of us fell against the car, watching as Shakespeare limped towards us. When he reached my feet he sat down, staring up at me and raising his paw. I bent down, staring at his leg and seeing blood on his paw. I scratched his head before pulling the door open. He leapt inside and curled up on the chair. Madison followed, as Chuck moved towards the driver side of the car.

"No way dude." I called, swiping the keys from his hand. "I'm driving."

"What? Why?"

"Because you've been driving since we left Cardiff, and you are way too weak right now. Just get some rest alright?"

"Fine." Grumbling, he slid into the passenger seat as I climbed into the driver's. As I pulled off, Madison spoke from the back seat.

"So, guys, where we going?"

"Don't know." I glanced towards Chuck, grinning at him. "Back to Cardiff?"

"Sure."

"Sounds good."

"Great." I nodded, putting my foot down. "And...not too many stops this time, yeah?"

I saw that Rebecca was settled in the back of the car, a colouring book on her lap and her head bent over intently. "Where we going?" She asked, as I started the car.

I shrugged, looking at Chloe. In return she gave me a blank expression.

"How about...where the road takes us?" I offered, watching the girl through the mirror.

I saw a small smile on her lips as she nodded. Chloe laughed, stretching her legs out and watching the hospital disappear in the distance as we drove.

A/N: Yeah, I know. Really, really short chapter. But, I kind of like the length of it for the final chapter, and I wrote it to lead off into the possibilty of a sequel. Please, please check out the poll on my profile page - I'm trying to decide what to write next, and would love to get some feedback on it. Anyway, as always would love some feedback on what you thought of Into the Night, especially with plot and characters, that sort of thing.
Thanks for sticking with it until the end. And the song Jake had in his head in Chapter Twenty-Two is a Cardiff City football chant.
