"Leave me alone!" I sob hysterically.
But it won't go away. It just sits there, looking at me with those cold, emotionless eyes. All I want is for it to just go away.
It stays, continuing to look on with those cold eyes, so dull and wide that I can see myself in them.
I try to back into a corner, but fall. Just like I always do.
Shaking uncontrollably, I start screaming, hoping it will finally listen to my pleas and just leave. Yet, it doesn't. It just continues to sit there and stare.
Panicking, I felt around the small, dim; closet-like room for a door, a window, anything.
Yet, nothing. Just like those eyes.
Shrinking to my knees, I start rocking myself in a feeble attempt to block out the horrifying image before me.
You'd think if I just closed my own eyes…It would be gone.
No. The image is still there, as clear as if I was staring straight at it.
Which I have no other choice but to do.
How long had I been here? I do not know.
Time means nothing now. All that matters anymore are those eyes. I have to get away.
Swinging my fists and kicking wildly, I scream uncontrollably. Why won't anyone hear me? Why won't anyone help? My fists continued to fly wildly, my eyes closed, trying to rid myself of the image.
Until finally I opened my eyes to meet the empty ones, once more. I took a few shaky steps forward before letting loose a hysterical scream and lunging forward, kicking and swinging towards the image.
I hit and hit and hit until I no longer couldn't. Falling to my knees, I grabbed my hair and pulled, trying to wake myself up from this horrible nightmare. It was then that I noticed something gleaming from the corner of my eye.
I crawled over slowly, gently picking up a large shard of glass with my bloody hands. I turned my head towards the eyes once more, and froze.
No longer was there one pair of eyes. No longer were they empty. Several pairs of laughing eyes stared up at me, seeming to ask why I wasn't laughing along. Why didn't I get the joke?
Then I looked to the piece of glass that lay in my hand. The eyes appeared again, still laughing.
And as I held the shard to my wrist, pressing gently, and drawing blood, I understood.
I allowed a slow grin to spread across my face, those useless tears still falling, but I no longer needed them.
Laughing louder than I ever had, I pressed the glass even harder against my skin, slowly sliding it up my wrist.
Then, as everything slowly faded to black, I could have sworn I heard the eyes laugh with me.
A/N: Okay, people, tell me how it was. :D For those of you who don't know, this is a revision of my crappy short-story, 'Eye Want to Leave'. I had started thinking, and decided I wanted to try to make it better, with maybe a better ending. So here it is. Personally, I like my other version better. It's short and sweet. xD You guys can check it out if you want, just click on my name. Anyway, hope you enjoyed, and please drop by a review if you think I should continue to write!
