Chapter Thirteen
"That was so fun!" I said.
"Yeah. I've never ran with someone before. It was great."
"Me neither."
"Well, you better get inside," He was hesitant. "Before Kat wakes up."
I didn't want to go back inside… He didn't want me to either. "I can write Kat a note saying that Paul called and wanted me home. I really want to stay and talk to you."
His face lit up. "That will work. I want to talk to you too. I want to know more about you." I smiled and then disappeared inside.
I came back seconds later. "Done."
He smiled. "Uh, what do you… want to do?"
"Run to the park, then sit at a bench and talk?" I suggested.
"Sounds good to me."
Running with another person is electrifying. It just adds to the exhilaration. I never imagined it feeling so…. Normal. It took us only five minutes to run to the park.
We ran straight to the bench.
"That's weird, you're a little faster than me." He said.
"Really?" I hadn't even noticed.
"Yeah,"
"Hmm, weird."
"Are you still listening to…" He trailed off.
"Your thoughts?"
He nodded
"No. I'm pretty good at ignoring them." I hesitated. "But sometimes certain thoughts just slip through." I was being serious and he could tell.
"Oh. I was just wondering cause that's all I was thinking about while we ran and you seemed really surprised when I told you, so…"
"I see."
"Um, so…" I could tell he felt a little awkward. "Why did you tell me? That's what I asked last night."
I smiled. "Because… I can trust you, because you're the one person in the world who knows what it feels like."
"True."
I took a deep breath. "Is it nice having your parents know?"
"I guess, except they always make me do all the work around the house, because they know I can get it done in minutes. Other than that its not too miserable. What's it feel like not having anyone know?"
I thought about it for a little before I answered. Most the times it ok. Other times it sucks. Mostly it feels lonely. "Not too miserable. Just lonely."
"That must have sucked." I noticed how he said must, as in now he'll be there for me. "My parents knew after a couple of months. I was a troublemaker, so I didn't use my powers for things that were responsible. They noticed and asked me and I told them the truth."
"Now that I think about it, I don't think I would've told my dad even if my aunt didn't hear thoughts."
"Have you ever thought of visiting her?"
"All the time, but I don't know where she's at."
"And your dad won't tell you?"
"No. He never wanted me to see her again, but I want to, so bad."
Some father. "Andi, your super fast, intelligent, strong, and you can read minds. It shouldn't be too hard for you to find her."
"Will you help me?" I asked in a small voice.
"Of course, maybe your aunt can help us."
"Thanks Lucas." I smiled. He returned it with a more stunning one.
Okay, he is the most amazing guy ever. How many guys would help you look for your aunt that is in an insane asylum? Not very many, that's for sure. And when he smiles at me I get weak kneed-good thing were sitting down. All this, and I've only know him for two days now.
It's a really good thing he can't read my mind.
A/N: Reveiw? Maybe you know how to get rid of writer block?
