I walked in the door from the day of school I had. It was a kind of rough day. "Hey Becca!" Chris yelled from the kitchen.

"Hi, I'm just going to head upstairs." I yelled back.

"What's the rush?" He asked coming out of the kitchen.

I had my back turned to him and shrugged. "I don't know, I'm just really tired."

"Oh really?" He asked turning me around. He gasped at what he saw. "What the hell happened to you?" He asked concern filling his eyes.

He was referring to my busted lip, black eye, and giant gash on my head, yeah not too pretty. "Oh this…see you're going to laugh." I said making myself laugh.

He crossed his arms. "Continue. Let's see how funny it is."

I frowned. "My friend dared me to skate down the steps at school and I went for it, after I got flung off the board I tumbled down the rest of the steps…funny right?" I said laughing nervously.

He raised his eyebrows. "I'm not laughing. Becca why would you do something so childish and stupid?" He asked.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm a teenager, I'm supposed to act like one."

"That was dangerous Becca you could have been hurt way worse." He raised his voice.

I sighed. "I know Chris. I'm sorry."

"What did I tell you would happen if you try another stupid stunt? Huh?" He asked.

I sighed again. "I wouldn't be allowed to skate no more." I said sadly.

He nodded. "Yeah, so board." He extended his arm.

I shook my head. "Please Chris, I will never try another stupid stunt please."

He kept his arm out. "Now."

I handed my board over to him and groaned. "Will I ever get it back?"

He walked into the kitchen ignoring me. I sighed what a jerk he can be. I walked to my room and laid on my bed listening to music. A knock on my door brought my attention out of the musical ride I was on. "Becca…I brought an ice pack." Chris said walking in and handing the ice pack to me.

"Thanks." I said with a small smile.

He frowned. "Becca listen, it's not that I don't want you skating, it's just I don't want to see you hurt, I hate seeing you in pain. Why do you think I pick out guys for you to date?"

I smiled wider. "You're gay and pick out hot guys?"

He rolled his eyes and smiled. "That and I pick out a guy who I know won't hurt you. Also you're right, I have a great taste in guys."

I giggled. "That you do Chris, that you do."

"Wow I got off topic. So how many guys that I picked out have hurt you?" He asked.

I shrugged. "Surprisingly none. I dumped them."

"See." He said. "I know best."

I nodded. "Yeah you're right."

He kissed my head. "Dinner will be done in about an hour okay?"

I smiled. "Yeah, alright."

He walked out of the room and I laid down on my bed. I was just starring at the ceiling daydreaming. Of what you may ask? I have no idea, I can get lost in space and not think about anything. "Becca!" I heard a yell. "Becca!" I heard again. After the third time I snapped out of my trance and heard Chris yet again. "Becca!"

I got up out of my bed and opened my door. "Yeah?"

He yelled back up at me. "Dinner."

I replied. "Be down in a sec."

I was looking at the stairs then I smiled. I took a running start and jumped off the top of the stairs. Oooo. I was going to go head first. I closed my eyes, but my impact was tough yet soft. I opened my eyes to see myself in Chris's arms. Wow, nice reflexes he has. "Becca! What the hell!" He yelled at me.

"I'm a risk taker." I smirked.

"You'll be the death of me girl." He took a deep inhale while closing his eyes. "Come on lets go eat."

I nodded and followed him. Chris made spaghetti for dinner, he handed me a glass of milk and I sat down. Chris really only buys milk or juice, not that he doesn't have money he just likes to not have a lot of sugar in the house. He doesn't like me to have sugar unless its on occasion which is very rare. I love him for it though, it helps me know he cares about me. I looked at him. "Have you heard from mom?" I asked slurping up a noodle.

He nodded and starred at me for a hot second. "Yeah, she's going to be gone longer."

I replied. "Oh, okay that's cool." I did everything I could to hide the hurt in my eyes.

Chris sighed. "Becca…" He started.

I cut him off. "It's fine Chris really, I'm fine." We ate the rest of our food in silence. "Can I be excused please?" I asked.

He replied. "Sure, but clean your plate off first."

I walked the sink and washed the plate off then trudged up the stairs. When I got to my room I closed the door and laid on my bed. Why can't the ones you love understand you need them? That question ran through my mind. I heard a knock at my door. "Come in." I mumbled.

Chris walked in and sat on the bed. "Hey, I wanted to talk to you. You know mom tries her best Hun, it's really all you and I can ask for. I know it's hard, but you have me."

I smiled. "I know thanks for being here Chris."

He hugged me. "What are big brothers for huh?"

I shrugged. "Being losers?"

He pretended to be shocked. "Why I never."

I giggled. "Ha-ha."

He kissed my head and covered me with blankets. "You sleep tight."

I smiled. "I'll try."

"You won't try, you'll do." He smirked.

"Okay." I replied with a laugh.

"Good girl." He complimented.

I smiled. "Love you."

"I love you too." He replied.

He left the room and I fell asleep.
