Chapter one.
I lay in the freezing snow, quivering with fear. My shoulder wound was beginning to sting worse than it ever had. I closed my eyes and thought for a second. My father was probably worried sick about me. I thought that I should find my way home, but I didn't know where I was in the first place. All that I knew was that I was somewhere in the woods of Vermont. I could barely even get up off the ground because my knee was probably broken from what happened a few minutes ago.
Maybe this wouldn't have happened if I hadn't moved from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the first place. Maybe if I hadn't moved to Vermont because of my mother dying, I wouldn't be here.
My black jeans were torn to shreds, my long sleeved shirt now looked like a short-sleeved summer shirt and I was beginning to get worried. My whole body was going numb and I could barely even lift my head. There was only one thing on my mind right now. And that was how I was going to get out of this mess that I've made.
"Alex" I wheezed "Alex, help me".
A crisp breeze whipped through the trees and the wind howled. With all of my might, I struggled to sit up so that my shoulder wouldn't have to suffer in the freezing cold. I blew out a sigh after a few minutes and saw that my knee was twisted to the right. I couldn't take it anymore! The pain, the worry. It was just too much.
Where was Alex when I needed him? He said that he would always be there for me. He was the main reason why I ran into the woods in the first place. I couldn't understand why he couldn't hear my screaming before. Well… I wasn't leaving without him.
A full moon was rising over the trees and I held my knee with my good arm. I heard a sound in the distance. Something that sounded like a low dog growl. This was about the 5th time that I had heard that sound in the last hour. Every time I heard it, it sounded like it was getting closer.
I squinted my eyes and saw that a figure was coming towards me. I could hear his boots crunching in the snow. I didn't understand what he wanted from me. But for some reason he hated my guts. He was the reason that I had a broken kneecap and why my shoulder was bleeding.
He let out a soft chuckle and knelt down by my side. He shook his head and waved his finger at me.
"Oh, Chelsea. What have you gotten yourself into this time?" he asked in a nasty way.
"Burn in hell!!" I snarled.
"You know that you shouldn't use that kind of language, young lady. You know what my little friend did to you the last time that you did that," he said with a wicked smile.
I tried to ignore the throbbing in my ears and turned my head away from him. I looked to my left and saw a pair of glowing deep red eyes staring at me from the bushes.
"Shit, not again" I muttered.
I heard the growling sound once again and this time it was a lot closer than before. I shook with fear as I heard a rustling sound in the bushes. I closed my eyes and tried to imagine what it would be like to just be at home. Sitting near the cold fire with Alex. I felt a sort of warm feeling in my throat and shook my head. That feeling quickly went away when I opened my eyes.
Standing right in front of me was a dark brown werewolf with the same color eyes that were staring at me before. I tried to move away, but my knee was hurting me too much. I took in a few breaths and tried to erase the feeling of fear out of my mind.
"Just don't move. Don't move a muscle" I thought to myself.
The man whistled slightly and the werewolf walked over to him like a loyal dog. The man looked at me and smiled slightly.
"Go ahead" he said "try me".
"Bastard!!" I shouted.
"That's it!!" he shouted back.
His faithful werewolf that he called a pet lunged at me and I screamed. It swiped its right paw at me and I went flying across the field. I felt more pain in my knee and my shoulder and screamed out in pain.
It all happened so quickly after that. Another werewolf (a tan, cream, and white colored one with ice blue eyes) leaped out from nowhere and tackled the werewolf that attacked me. I blew out a sigh of relief as the two of them wrestled on the ground. I knew that he would come for me. He was my Knight in Shining Armor. My own Prince Charming. My Alex.
"Holy shi!!! What the hell is going on!! Kill him!! You can kill that mutt!!" shouted the man.
The werewolf bit Alex on the ear and he let out a slight whimper of pain. He backed away for a moment and looked at me.
"You all right? I'm sorry I took so long" I heard his voice say in mind.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm glad you came" I said.
"I brought some backup" he said.
3 other werewolves emerged from the distance. All three of them were all white with black spots and glowing green eyes. I smiled slightly as one of them came over to me and nudged me on my good shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Shaun. You don't have to worry about me" I said as I heard a slight whimper from him.
"Take her home. Matt, Dylan, and I will try and keep this guy distracted" Alex said.
Shaun nodded his head and lay down on the ground next to me. I held my good left arm to his neck and climbed on back of him with my good leg. He ran off into the woods, trying to find a way out while I was riding him. The werewolf that attacked me tackled him and I fell of him and fell to the ground. The two other backup werewolves snarled at the werewolf. The both of them lunged at the werewolf and I just shook my head.
"It's going to be a long night" I said to myself
