The Nocturnal Horror
"Hhhh, hhhh" The girl was breathing heavily as she ran through the deserted junkyard. Cars were piled up on both sides, obscuring anything beneath them. Suddenly, the sound of a nearby scream pulsed through the solitary fenced in area. They were getting closer.
The girl increased her speed, but stumbled, falling face first onto the gritty ground. She picked herself up and cautiously looked around for any sign that they had caught up to her. She was answered only with silence.
With renewed hope, she dashed off again, thinking that maybe, just maybe, she might escape the Nocturnal Horror. She was sorely mistaken.
They crept out of the shadows, all of the obscured places, and, unbeknownst to the girl, slowly and efficiently surrounded her. And then they made their move.
This time it was the girl that screamed.
A Splash of Red
Ella sat on her porch watching the snow fall, wondering when Monique would get there. Ella and her friend had been planning this outing for months and now Monique was thirty minutes late!
Ella felt tears of frustration well in her eyes. Angrily, she swiped her hand across them. After that, she focused on the snow hitting her outstretched hand.
One white snowflake, two white snowflakes, three white snowflakes, one red snowflake… Wait? A red one?
Ella leaned over and inspected it more closely. It was then she realized it wasn't a snowflake at all. It was a drop of dark crimson liquid. Then she felt another one splash onto her hand, and another, and another…
Together Forever
Justin gazed on in sadness as the couple strolled down the street opposite him, arm in arm, grinning at each other in a lovesick way. His own love, Marissa, had died a few weeks ago. She had wandered into the Bogerby Swamp, a marsh on the outskirts of town, on dare and had never been seen again. He'd promised that they would be together forever, but now that was never going to happen.
The forlorn boy trudged on and on lost in thought until he heard a very familiar voice calling his name.
"Juuuuustiiiiiiiiin!" He jumped, but no one was there. His uneasiness only increased when he realized where he was: Bogerby Swamp. Ten feet away to be exact.
"Juuuuuustiiiiiiiiiin!" the ethereal voice called again. The boy began to back away, but the voice grew more persistent. "Juuuuuuustiiiiin!" And then her saw her. Marissa.
She was standing in the middle of the swamp, taking slow, deliberate steps toward him. Bits of mud and grass clung to her body and she had a stick stuck in her hair. The underside of her eyes was ringed with dark circles.
Petrified with terror, Justin just stood there, unable to move. "Wwwwhhhhyyy?" The ghost moaned as she got closer. "Juuustiin, whhhy?"
"I-I-I" The horrified boy was inarticulate with fear.
"Whhhhy, Justin? Thhhiiiiinnngs were goiiing soooo well!"
"I-I-I" By now the shade was only twenty feet away.
"I loved you, Justin!" Eight feet.
"You were my life!" Six feet. Justin tried to back away, but he couldn't.
"You said you loved me!" Four feet.
"But then you killed me." Marissa whispered these words. Now she was at the edge of the swamp. "And stashed my body here." She waved her hand in a wide arc to indicate that she meant the Bogerby Swamp.
"No! I-I didn't!"
"But you did. And now it's time for you to live up to your promise." In a second, Justin's look of confusion was replaced with one of horror. "You promised we would be together forever."
Then, powerless to stop himself, Justin took a step towards the swamp. And another. And another until he was met with Marissa's chilling, death-bringing embrace.
So, what do you think? Love it? Hate it? Or do you just have some ideas? Thanks! :-D
